How to Make a Slingshot Keychain from Rubber Bands

Selection of rubber bands

You can make a keychain out of rubber bands using bright and high-quality rubber bands.

When choosing a material, it is necessary to take into account several nuances:

When you buy a set of elastic bands, the kit often includes a thin plastic hook 8.5 cm long. If you don’t have one, you can use a knitting tool of size 3 or 4.

How to weave rubber band figures on a slingshot

Weaving figures from rubber bands is characterized by a simple technique. The main thing is not to twist the material on the slingshot. Otherwise, the appearance of the product will be spoiled. If you make a mistake, you will have to start weaving again.

To prevent the loops from slipping off, the hook should be positioned with the open part facing away from you. In this case, it is advisable to prepare a thick tool so that the hook is not damaged when lowering several windings.

Simple figures

Beginner needlewomen can make a rubber band keychain in the shape of a star, heart or ball. For example, to make the last figure, you don’t need a special tool.

To decorate the product, use a cotton pad, around which you need to twist the rubber bands to fill all the voids. The first material needs to be fixed three times in the shape of an eight. The remaining rubber bands need to be crossed with the initial one to form a cross-shaped figure.

Keychains

You can make a keychain from rubber bands using a slingshot, a fork or a loom. The latter method of weaving is suitable for more experienced needlewomen. For beginners, a slingshot is ideal.

Banana

List of necessary tools and materials:

20 yellow rubber bands;
4 black rubber bands;
slingshot with a special plastic or regular hook.

Step-by-step description of the work:

Take the slingshot so that the notches are directed towards the master.
Using a black rubber band, carefully wrap the right column of the instrument 3 times.
After that, without twisting, put 2 yellow rubber bands on the columns.
Using a hook, throw 3 windings of dark material into the center of the yellow rubber bands.
Put 4 yellow rubber bands on top again.
Carefully grab the 2 loops from below, which have dark rubber bands, and move them up. Throw these loops over the tool columns and release. As a result, they should be located on top of all the material that is put on the slingshot.
Put 4 yellow rubber bands back on the tool, repeating step 5 in the same way.
Use a crochet hook to throw off and transfer the elastic bands through the columns. Do the same manipulations 2 more times to form the elongated body of the figure.
Repeat step 5 again, but using only 2 yellow materials.
Then put 2 black rubber bands on the tool.
Place the last 2 yellow rubber bands onto the dark material.
At the end of the work, put 1 black rubber band on the tool. To secure the structure, throw 2 rubber bands on this material from below.
However, initially, drop 2 loops of one black elastic band onto one half of the tool.
Use a crochet hook to pull the bottom loop through the top one to remove the figure from the tool.

Strawberry

To weave the figurine, you need to prepare a slingshot with a hook, as well as several green and red rubber bands.

Method of creating a keychain:

Wrap the right column of the tool 3 times with a red elastic band. Throw a double material of a red shade onto two frames. Then throw the previous loops onto it and string the elastic bands again in the amount of 2 pcs.

To the middle, throw the loop that is located at the bottom on the right. Throw the edge of the material on the left onto the right column. Put on 2 red rubber bands and remove the loop on the left.
Repeat the previous manipulations, stringing 2 red materials and dropping the loop on the left.
Remove 2 loops from the top of the right column and throw them to the left. String 2 red rubber bands. Throw the double material located at the top right to the center.
Place the red loop on top of the left part of the instrument. Put on a similar-toned elastic band and place the right loop on it.
Then put a double green rubber band on the tool. Throw the red material, located at the top left, onto this material. Put the green loop on the left on the right column.
Put on 2 green rubber bands. Then remove all the loops that are located on the left column of the tool.
Place single material on two halves of the slingshot. Then drop all green loops onto this elastic band.
Using a crochet hook, carefully remove 2 loops.
After transferring one material to another, tighten the loop to complete the work.

Flower

To complete the work, you need to take a hook with a slingshot, as well as 14 yellow and 8 green rubber bands.

Step-by-step description of the work:

Place the green material on the right column of the tool and rotate it 4 times.
Then put 2 yellow rubber bands on the columns, pulling the green loops to the center with a crochet hook.
From the left half of the tool, throw the loops to complete one petal. There should be 5 petals in total, so repeat similar manipulations several times. Each column should have 2 petals, and the outermost one should be located in the center.
Stretch yellow material over 2 posts so that all the petals can be dropped onto it.
Adjust the petals so that the green loops are located on the outside.
To create the stem, put on a green material and throw yellow loops onto it.
Throw on the yellow material and drop the green loops. Weave the remaining material in the same way.
Remove the figure from the tool and use the hook to tighten the outer loop.

To create a figurine, you can take material of other shades, and also use small or large rubber bands.

Animal weaving

You can make a keychain in the form of an animal figurine from rubber bands using a slingshot, which consists of 2 columns. This type of weaving does not consist of complex elements, so novice craftsmen can handle it.

List of necessary tools and materials:

2 black rubber bands for making eyes;
4 orange rubber bands to create the beak and paws;
8 white rubber bands for weaving the belly;
44 yellow rubber bands (they are the main color of the body);
slingshot with hook and scissors.

Method of creating the figurine:

Wrap the right column 3 times with a yellow rubber band. Then put 2 pieces of yellow material on the 2 halves of the slingshot.
Throw the first of the 3 windings to the middle. Then release the column on the right. To do this, transfer all the material to the left half.
Wrap the right column 4 times with orange material and put on 2 yellow rubber bands again.
Remove one of the 4 orange turns onto the elastic bands. Throw the 2 lower materials from the left half into the middle so that only the orange elastic band is located on the right side of them.
Place 2 yellow rubber bands again and move the material at the bottom to the center.
Place 2 yellow rubber bands on 2 halves, then throw the bottom material over them.
Place 2 elastic bands over 2 columns again and move the material from the bottom to the middle.
Move the material that is on the left half to the right side.
Insert a hook into the initial material from 3 turns so that the elastic band can be thrown over to the left half.
Put on 2 pieces of white material and move the triple elastic band to the center. In the same way, put on 2 white elastic bands again and remove the material from below in a similar tone from 2 frames.
Similarly, weave 4 more elastic bands. Then move the white material, which is located on the left side, to the right side.
Insert the hook into the initial triple elastic band to put the material on the left column.
Place 2 yellow rubber bands on 2 halves of the instrument.
Move 3 left turns to the middle.
Move the material from the left to the right side. Wrap the left column 4 times with an orange elastic band.
Put on 2 more yellow materials. Then remove the orange elastic from the column.
From the right half, remove 4 yellow rubber bands from the top so that only the material of a similar shade remains on the left column.
Put on 2 yellow rubber bands again and move the previous ones to the middle.
Place 2 yellow rubber bands on the tool, lowering the previous material from 2 columns. Perform similar manipulations 1 more time.
To connect all the elements, put 2 yellow rubber bands on 2 columns, and throw all the lower material to the center.
To create the head, put on 2 yellow rubber bands from the row on the right, throw the lower ones to the center. Repeat the same steps again, transferring the material from the left column to the right.
Wrap the left column 4 times with a black rubber band. Then put on 2 yellow rubber bands and throw the black material onto them.
Remove 4 rubber bands from the right column, but the black material should be located on the left side.
Place 2 yellow rubber bands on, move the material from the bottom to the center.
Free the left half of the slingshot by transferring the rubber bands to the right column.
Insert the hook into the loop from which the creation of the head was started. Then throw 2 orange rubber bands onto this tool. Pull through the loop, throwing the second half onto the tool.
Transfer the orange rubber bands from the hook to the left column.
Place 2 yellow rubber bands on the 2 halves of the tool, then throw the orange material over them.
Move the elastic bands from the left column to the right one.
Insert the hook into the initial loop again. Place 2 yellow rubber bands on the tool. When pulling one side, place the other on the hook.
Transfer the material with the hook to the left half of the slingshot.
Again, place 2 yellow rubber bands on 2 columns. Move 4 yellow materials from the left half to the middle.
On the right column, pick up the top 2 materials and transfer them to the left column. Wrap the right half of the tool 4 times with black single material.
Place 2 yellow rubber bands on 2 parts of the slingshot and release the black material.
When throwing off the rubber bands from the left column, the black material should be located on the right side of them.
Put on 2 yellow rubber bands and move the previous ones to the center.
Connect all the material on the tool. To do this, put 1 yellow rubber band on 2 halves of the slingshot. Then move all the material from the tool to the middle.
Move one of the elastic bands to the adjacent column. Lower one of the lower materials to the middle to tighten the loop.
Insert the hook into the head loop located at the top left and pull 1 yellow elastic through it. Make a loop again.
Design the right side in the same way.
Pull each prepared material and cut it with scissors by 1/2.

Hare

To create a keychain in the shape of a hare, you need to prepare 58 yellow and 3 black rubber bands.

Method of creation:

To comfortably grasp the elastic with the hook, the indentations on the slingshot should be directed towards the chest.
Wrap the right column with a yellow rubber band 3 times. After 2 pieces of material of a similar shade, throw them onto 2 halves of the slingshot.
Move the starting elastic band to the center so that you can put on 2 more yellow elastic bands.
Move the previous material from 2 columns to the middle. Again, put 2 yellow rubber bands on 2 halves.
Complete the braiding by removing the bottom ones and putting on 2 more yellow rubber bands.
After another throwing of the bottom material, transfer the structure to the right half. Insert the hook into the initial triple material.
Drop the triple elastic band from each column to the middle. Then throw on 2 yellow elastic bands.
Move the previous material from each half to the middle to add 2 yellow rubber bands.
Lower the previous bottom material again. Additionally, transfer the second part of the figure to the right column.
Place the triple elastic band on the left column. In the same way, make the next piece, using 8 elastic bands.
To connect the elements, put on 2 yellow rubber bands and transfer all the material that is on the tool onto them.
To create the head, put on 2 yellow rubber bands and throw off the previous material.
Put on 2 yellow rubber bands again, throwing off the previous ones. But at the same time transfer the material from the left column to the right one.
To make the eye, wrap the left column 3 times with a black rubber band. Then put 2 yellow rubber bands on the 2 halves of the slingshot.
Lower 3 turns of the black elastic band on the left side and 4 lower elastic bands of yellow shade on the right. Then transfer the material to the left half.
To create the ear, wrap the right column with a yellow rubber band 3 times. Then put 2 yellow rubber bands on the 2 halves.
Move 3 turns to the middle. Make 4 more elastic bands in the same way.
To connect the elements, put on 2 yellow rubber bands. Then throw off all the lower material so that the ear is located on the right side.
Insert the hook into the loop from which the head design was started. After that, throw this element onto the left column and put 2 yellow rubber bands on the slingshot, dropping the loop on the left side.
Wrap the right part of the instrument 4 times with a black rubber band and put on 2 yellow materials.
Lower the black and previous yellow material.
Put on 2 yellow rubber bands and move the previous material from the left side to the middle.
Move the material to the right column.
Insert the hook into the loop from which you started weaving the head and put it on the left column.
Weave 2 yellow rubber bands and move on to creating the second eye.
Wrap a black rubber band around the right column, then put 2 yellow pieces of material on the tool.
Lower the black turns with 4 yellow rubber bands on the left.
Transfer the left material to the right column and form the second ear.
Wrap the left column 3 times with a yellow elastic band. Then weave 6 elastic bands and connect all parts with 2 yellow ones.
On the left side, lower 2 yellow rubber bands, and on the right side, lower 6 yellow rubber bands from the top.
Put on a single material and drop all the rubber bands from below onto it. Throw one of the materials onto the column next to it, then drop the rubber band from below.
Tighten the loop and remove the product from the tool. If necessary, adjust the details of the figure.

Creating original items from rubber bands helps develop fine motor skills. However, to make a keychain, bracelet or other figurine, you need to be patient and perform all actions carefully so as not to tear the material. As a result, you can weave a beautiful decoration or a gift for a loved one.
