The main property of foamiran is its pliability when exposed to even a small elevated temperature. It becomes elastic and can be given any desired shapes and outlines.
Plastic suede is another name for foamiran.
Chinese and Iranian foamiran is especially popular among needlewomen; it is inexpensive, of good quality and has unique properties.
Properties of foamiran:
- under the influence of the warmth of the hands it takes the desired shape;
- when using an iron it becomes voluminous;
- retains the shape it was given after complete cooling;
- small parts can be easily cut or trimmed using scissors;
- can be painted in any color, either with acrylic paints or pastel crayons;
- cut out using a composter or hole punch;
- The parts are connected with strong and medium strength glue.
When choosing foamiran, you need to know that there are several varieties.
The most popular and frequently used types are:
- Iranian foam, which is produced using a special foaming technology, is available in 60/60 cm sheets, the edge thickness is uneven up to 1 mm;
- Turkish revelour, of uniform thickness and produced both in rolls and sheets;
- Korean foamiran, a material of good quality, retains its shape well, thickness from 0.6 to 1 mm.
For making flower arrangements or individual flowers, thin silk foam or glittery revelour foam is best suited. Marshmallow foam is excellent for making petals due to its airiness, softness, pliability, does not require heating and is easily dyed in the desired colors.
Foam is widely used in artificial floristry. This material is perfect for making various flowers and composing them into compositions.

Cutting out

- On the inside, we tint the petals with green paint, pre-drawn hearts and painted over with chalk.
- You need to lean the petal against the heated sole of the iron. At first it will stick, but as it heats up it will start to come off. Use your fingers to give the petal the desired shape before it cools down. Repeat the procedure with all the blanks.
- We make the center of the snowdrop from a purchased ready-made stamen, which is attached with glue to the wire stem.
Gluing
Instructions:
- First, small petals are attached to the wire with the stamen glued to it using a glue gun.
- Large petals are glued on top of the already assembled stamen and small petals.
- The result was a half-opened snowdrop
Design
Instructions:
- To create the effect of an open snowdrop, bend the larger petals back and apply a little hot glue to their base. When the glue dries, the petal will remain bent.
- We make a stem from tape. We tear off the tape of the required length and cut it into 2 strips. We wrap them around the wire from below towards the bud in a spiral.
- We create leaves from an olive-colored sheet of foam. We cut out 1 small, 2 large oblong leaves. On the large leaves, we paint the middle with green chalk. Then, using our fingers, we give them the desired shape.
- To make the snowdrop look natural, the leaves need to be bent and glued at the bend.
- First we glue one leaf to the bottom of the stem, and then the next leaves.
- We make a final inspection of the snowdrop and correct any visible flaws with our fingers.

Lily
To create a lily from elastic foamiran you will need:
- white foamiran, sheet;
- green leaf of revel;
- stamen blanks;
- acrylic paints;

- glue;
- brown marker;
- wire;
- toothpick;
- curly scissors;
- to heat the iron.
Step-by-step instructions for making a lily:
- We make a template from cardboard and cut out a petal 60 mm long.
- Using the resulting pattern, cut out 6 petals from white sheet foam.
- We tint the petals with a pink-lilac shade using acrylic paints.
- To add volume to the petals, heat them with an iron and draw the veins with a toothpick.
- To give the petals a wavy appearance, the ends are also heat treated with an iron.
- At the bottom of the petals, we apply dots with a brown felt-tip pen to give the lily petals a natural look.
- Glue stamens and small diamonds made of foam, painted black, onto the prepared 5 mm long wire pieces.
- We cut out leaves from a green sheet of revelour.
- To give it a shaped look, heat the leaves with an iron.
- Glue a row of 3 petals to the base with stamens and pistil.
- The second row of petals is glued in a chessboard pattern.
- The leaves are glued to the bottom in random order.
Chamomile
To make chamomile flowers from foamiran you will need:
- sheet of white foam;
- cardboard sheet;
- glue gun;
- pastel crayons;
- compass;
- iron.
The process of making chamomile:
- On a sheet of foam, using a compass, make 3 circles with a diameter of 90 mm and cut them out.
- We cut a strip 270 mm long and 20 mm wide from revelour and paint it yellow. This is the blank for the core of the chamomile.
- Fold the yellow strip in the middle, glue the edges and cut into thin strips on the fold side to create fringe.
- We twist the base, having previously glued it, into a spiral.
- We cut out a circle with a diameter of 90 mm from cardboard and use a conveyor to draw the places where the petals will be cut.
- A cardboard template is needed to cut out the chamomile petals.
- Without cutting 0.2 cm to the center, carefully cut the circles into petals.
- Using an iron, we round the chamomile petals, giving them a natural look.
- We put the blank on the core and glue it.
- We make the next 2 layers of petals in a similar way, gluing them together.
Poppy
Making a poppy flower from foam is not as difficult as it seems at first glance, for this you need:
- red foam sheet;
- leaf of green revelour;
- wire;
- bead diameter 20 mm;
- cardboard sheet;
- black threads;
- glue;
- toothpick;
- scissors for cutting out details;
- iron.
Instructions for creating a poppy:
- Draw a poppy petal on a piece of cardboard and cut out the blank.
- Cut out a circle with a diameter of 60 mm from green foamiran.
- We pull the wire through the bead and twist it to form a stem.
- We heat the blank on an iron so that it becomes elastic, and wrap it around the bead, fastening the edges near the wire.
- We fix the green foam on the bead with threads to create intersections.
- We make stamens from black threads and attach them to the base using glue.
- Using a toothpick and a blank, we make petals from red velour and cut them out.
- First, fold the leaves like an accordion, then twist them with your fingers.
- We straighten the petals; this is done to give them a natural look.
- We glue the petals to the base in two rows.
- From green foam we cut out 2 leaves, trim them along the edges, and repeat the twisting.
- Using glue, attach the leaves underneath the petals and cut off the excess wire.
Rose
One of the flowers that is made from foamiran is a rose.
The master class on making a rose requires the following materials:
- sheet of pink foam;
- green reverb;
- a piece of foil;
- toothpicks;
- curly scissors;
- strong fixation glue;
- cardboard;
- iron.
How to create a rose:
- We cut out 2 petal blanks from cardboard, one larger, the other smaller in size.
- Place the templates on a pink sheet of paper and trace around them with a toothpick, then cut them out with scissors.
- We press the petals one by one against a hot iron so that the edges become curved.
- We roll a ball from a piece of foil and wrap it in a cone-shaped small petal and glue it.
- Next, we glue the small petals so that they form a bud.
- We attach large petals in rows to the bud blank and secure with glue.
- Cut out 6 leaves from green foam.
- We heat the leaves with an iron so that their edges become curved and attach them to the flower with glue.
Sunflower
To create a flower from foamiran you need:
- white sheet revelour;
- sheet of cardboard;
- glue gun;
- curly scissors, awl;
- green tape;
- toothpick;
- paints;
- iron.
The process of creating a flower step by step:
- On cardboard we draw rectangular figures of different sizes, 4 types, and cut out petal templates.
- We wrap a large toothpick with green tape; this will be the stem.
- We trace all 4 types of petals 12 times on a white sheet of velour with an awl, then cut them out.
- We paint all the petals yellow so that the color is more saturated towards the beginning of the petal.
- Draw and cut out 4 sunflower leaves and paint them green on both sides.
- From the sheet foam we cut out a strip one meter long and 20 mm wide.
- We paint the strip black and cut it with scissors to create a fringe.
- We roll the fringe into a roll on the prepared stem and secure it with glue, and we have the core of the sunflower.
- We heat the petals with an iron, giving them a curved shape.
- We attach the smaller petals with glue, and then the larger ones.
- Glue the leaves to the bottom side of the flower.
Hydrangea
Artificial inflorescences of this flower are often used as decorative decorations for festive occasions.
You can create a hydrangea from foamiran, for this you need:
- peach colored foam;
- olive colored revel leaf;
- ready stamens;
- pink and green oil pastels;
- wire;
- green tape;
- curly scissors;
- strong fixation glue.
Master class (process) of creating hydrangea:
- Divide the peach-colored foam sheet into 20 x 20 mm squares. Cut out with scissors.
- On each square we make cuts from the middle of each side to the center, not reaching 1.5 mm. We get a flower of 4 petals, using scissors we round off the edges of the petals.
- We tint each flower core on both sides with green pastel.
- We heat each flower petal with an iron and apply it to the mold to create natural veins.
- After this, we tone the flowers with pink pastel.
- In each flower we make a hole in the center, insert the purchased stamen and secure it with glue.
- When the flowers are ready, we collect the hydrangea inflorescence, consisting of 5 pieces.
- We attach small flowers to a wire wrapped with tape using glue, giving the inflorescence a natural shape.
- We cut out leaves from green foam. Using an iron and a mold, we give them a natural look.
- We cut off several pieces of wire 5 mm long and glue the leaf onto it.
- Then we glue the finished sheets to the hydrangea inflorescence.
Orchid
A natural orchid is a very capricious flower and often does not take root at home. But you can make this beautiful flower from foamiran yourself.
To do this you will need:
- sheets of white and purple foam;
- green leaf of revel;
- cardboard;
- beads, 5 mm diagonal, black;
- foil;
- wire;
- green tape;
- scissors, awl;
- toothpick;
- glue;
- candle.
Step-by-step instructions for making an orchid:
- We make a template from cardboard, consisting of 3 parts: a core and 2-petal and 3-petal parts.
- Using a toothpick, make flower cores from a sheet of purple foam and cut them out.
- We cut out petals from white foamiran using the templates.
- Using your fingers, shape the petals and stretch them a little.
- We cut the wire into pieces 17 cm long and string the beads and twist them.
- We make a hole in the core with an awl and string it onto a wire.
- We bring the core on the wire with the bead to the burning candle. When the core begins to curl inward, we remove it from the heat source.
- We pierce the petals in the center with an awl and attach them to the structure made of the core and beads, gluing them to the wire.
- Using a ballpoint pen, draw veins on the petals.
- On the long wire at the top we make a ball out of foil and attach it with glue.
- From a sheet of green foam we cut out small petals and cover the ball with them to form a bud.
- We wrap the entire length of the floral wire with green tape to create a stem.
- We attach ready-made flowers to the stem, and we get a whole orchid.
Peony
Peonies are very beautiful flowers, but they quickly fade. You can make a similar artificial flower so that it pleases at any time of the year.
To create a peony you will need:
- foamiran sheets of white, pink and dark pink colors;
- cardboard;
- wire;
- wooden bead, 15 mm in diameter;
- glue;
- scissors;
- iron.
Master class on making peony:
- Cut out 5 cm wide strips from foam of different colors.
- We make templates of petals of arbitrary sizes from cardboard.
- Using a toothpick, trace the pattern on the foam strips and cut out the petals. You should get about 70 petals.
- The petals should be: small ones – dark pink; medium ones – pink; and large petals – white.
- We heat each petal with an iron and give it a waviness by stretching the still warm petal with our fingers.

- When the bud becomes voluminous and it is inconvenient to glue the petals, it is turned over and glued from below.
- Dry the flower with a hair dryer and cut off the excess wire.
