Kikimora, whose photo can be seen in illustrations to Russian folk tales, is one of the most famous characters found in Slavic legends and fairy tales. The first written mentions of kikimoras in chronicles were discovered at the beginning of the 17th century, and these creatures in folk beliefs differed from each other.
Some kikimoras lived in swamps and were considered forest creatures. Others were domestic and coexisted with people in their homes, helping them or hindering them.

Kikimoras are most often depicted in drawings as cheerful and playful with long pointed noses. Disheveled, lush hair and the absence of a belt were considered signs of swamp creatures, since it was considered a talisman for people in ancient times. Sometimes they were depicted as evil and insect-like.
