To create a bright and comfortable accessory you need to have:

a piece of denim in one or more shades (or several pairs of old jeans);
zipper, strap with buckle;
handle mounts or ready-made handles made of wood or metal (this could be a rope);
threads of a suitable color;
lace, braid, ribbons, elastic bands (depending on the desired model);
Thematic iron-on stickers or patch designs;
brads, badges, eyelets;
lining fabric made of stitched synthetic padding;

Some useful tips for beginners:

It is better to sew denim fabric on a sewing machine (this way the seams will look neater and the bag will last longer).
If several types of denim are used, then they should be selected of the same thickness and density.
Do not cut off the pockets and belt from the trousers (they can play a leading role in the decoration of the accessory).
Leather, suede, silk flowers and metal items are suitable as additional decorations.
It is advisable to choose fabric made from 100% cotton and not staining water when washed (if you take a fabric that deforms, the seams will be wavy and untidy).
To create a winter bag, it is permissible to use knitted parts, and for a summer bag, woven parts in the macrame style.

A denim bag (you can sew it yourself in any shape and size) is often seen at fashion shows of world-famous designers (Valentino, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana). Denim accessories are popular among both women and men.

Beach bag made from old jeans

A beach bag implies volume and lightness. Therefore, this model does not use rigid frames and padding made of synthetic padding.

The materials required are:

1-2 pairs of old jeans (straight cut);
a piece of bright cotton fabric for lining;
threads, chalk, scissors, sewing machine;
lace (optional).

Sequence of actions:

cut off the folds of fabric from the bottom edges of the trousers;
measure 50 cm from the bottom of the trousers and cut off;
turn them inside out and cut along one seam. Leave the second seam as is (it will look like in the photo).

Align both pieces to the same size;
From the top of the trousers, cut out 3 strips (1 piece for the bottom (15 cm wide), 2 pieces for the side inserts of the same width, the length of all 3 pieces is the same as the height of the large pieces);
Do the same with the lining fabric.
Also cut out another piece from jeans (inner pocket for a water bottle), measuring 25*40 cm;
Decorate the denim squares with lace if desired;
Sewing denim: first sew the bottom, then the side parts to the base, leaving 1 cm for allowances, it should look like this.

Turn the resulting workpiece inside out. Set aside.

Sewing the inside of the bag:

Sew a pocket to one large lining piece from the front side (previously cut off from the trousers), as in the photo.

fold the main and side parts, and insert the pocket part between them, secure, example in the photo.

stitch and repeat the same with the second edge of the bottle pocket (using the second large lining piece of the bag;
finish sewing the lining in the same way as the denim blank;
leave inside out (pockets inside).

Making the bag handles:

from the remains of the trousers form 2 strips 60-65 cm long and 10 cm thick (you can use the belt from old jeans), fold them in half lengthwise, iron and stitch. You will get 2 handles measuring 4*60 cm.
Sew the handles to the middle of the top edge of the bag, using the image as a reference.

Place the turned-out denim piece into the lining base, secure the top edge with pins and machine stitch (leaving 10 cm for turning), as shown in the picture.

Turn out through the hole.
Machine stitch the top edge again (only now from the front side), leaving a little space for the lining (example in the photo) and you're done.

Shopping bag made from old jeans

A good quality shopping bag should have 3 main properties: be roomy, light and durable.

Additional advantages are compactness (when folded), the presence of several pockets (for small items, a wallet and a phone) and, of course, an original design. It is this version of the bag (with patchwork elements) that will be offered for sewing with your own hands in the master class.

Necessary materials and tools:

Pieces of denim in different shades with straight edges (100% cotton);
Patch pockets of various sizes, cut from jeans and skirts;
Lining fabric made of cotton of any shade;
Threads, scissors, sewing machine.

Algorithm of actions:

On a flat surface, fold the desired pattern on one or both sides of the bag using pieces of fabric. Use the photos below as a guide:

Sew the pieces of the front part of the product (if the design is one-sided) and then the back part (if the design is two-sided) into one piece. You should get two pieces of the same size (60*50 cm).
Sew the two pieces together with the right sides facing each other. Turn the piece inside out.
From the lining, cut two pieces of fabric of the same dimensions and stitch them together with the bright side facing each other (along 3 sides, leaving the top free). Leave it like this, without turning it inside out.
Insert the denim piece into the lining so that the outer sides of the bag and the lining are facing each other with the patterns.
Pin the top edge (denim part and lining together) and stitch, leaving 10 cm free.
Turn the finished product inside out through the opening.
Machine stitch the top edge again, leaving 1 cm for the lining.
Make handles from two strips of denim (size 50*10 cm each), for which you need to fold the pieces in half lengthwise with the right side facing up and fold the allowances inward, then iron and stitch on a sewing machine.
Sew the handles to the bag along the inner edge. The product is ready.

Youth bag from old jeans

A bag made of jeans (it can be sewn by hand in a couple of hours) goes well with leather and metal elements. This gives the product a modern, unique and expensive look.

To make a fashionable bag at home (as in the photo), you will need:

leather belt and pieces of similar leather;
metal rings for handles (4 pcs.) and half rings (3 pcs.);
rivets and a special machine for fixing them;
jeans – 1 pair;
clasp, eyelets (4 pcs.);
metal triangle patch;
black leather or imitation;
cotton lining fabric;
sewing supplies (thread, scissors, sewing machine).

The process of sewing an accessory:

Using the patterns below, cut out the necessary pieces from the trousers.

The result should be:

From the lining fabric, cut out 2 main and 2 side pieces of the same size.
From the leather scraps form a strip 24 cm long and 3-4 cm wide, fold it in half, threading the half ring through.
Sew 2 main pieces of denim along the bottom edge (the seam of the bottom of the bag). In the center, insert a leather strap that extends outward (the bottom part of the clasp).
Sew a pocket onto the additional piece.
Iron the additional part with the pocket, folding the allowances inward, then attach it to the front part of the bag and pin it. Stud the edge with rivets
Sew the side parts to the main part (the beginning of the work is shown in the picture):

Without stopping stitching, sew the second main piece to the side pieces (drawing the base around the side inserts), you will get an "envelope". Stud the edges of the side inserts with rivets. Turn the seams inside out.
Sew a leather strip and a metal triangle onto the front covering fabric.
Fold two identical closing parts, inside out (insert a leather strip with a fastener into the sharp corner), stitch, turn inside out, and pierce with rivets along the edges.
Sew the closure to the back of the bag.
Sew the lining from the main and side parts, turn the seams outward.
Insert the denim piece into the lining (the patterns of both pieces should be facing each other.
Sew the top edge of the bag, leaving an opening. Turn inside out.
From a piece of leather, cut a strip 4 cm wide and the required length to decorate the top edge of the bag.
Apply a leather patch and pierce it with rivets every 1.5 - 2 cm.
Punch holes for the rings on the main parts, insert eyelets and 2 rings into them.
Bend the edges of the leather strap, insert half rings and pierce with rivets.
Connect the handle and the bag. The product is ready.

Backpack made of jeans

A backpack-shaped bag is a favorite accessory of young people. It is practical, convenient and functional.

If you want to create a unique backpack and old unused denim clothes, you can sew a wonderful accessory with your own hands.

To make it (example in the photo) you will need:

1 pair of jeans (one-piece, 100% cotton);
lining fabric;
clasp, velcro;
cord;
stitched synthetic padding.

Stages of sewing a backpack:

Using the diagram below, cut out the backpack parts from denim fabric.

Cut out 2 main parts and 1 side part from the lining. Do the same with the padding polyester.
Sew pockets onto the denim base (front, back and sides (optional)).
Sew 2 parts of the flap from jeans, turn inside out, iron and stitch from the front side again. Sew the flap to the back base from the outside. Attach the fastener to the flap and base.
In places where the belts are attached (on the back base), sew on fabric squares for strength.
Connect the base and side parts, sew with a machine.
Turn the workpiece inside out with the seams facing inward.
Sew the lining from 2 bases and a side part (applying synthetic padding), turn the seams and synthetic padding outward.
Place the denim piece inside the lining and carefully stitch the top edge of the backpack, leaving a 10 cm opening.
Turn the backpack inside out through the hole. Sew it up.
5 cm from the top edge of the bag, sew 1-2 lines around the entire circle using a machine.
Insert eyelets for the cord.
Make straps from long strips, folding them in half lengthwise and sewing, hiding the allowances inside.
Sew the straps to the backpack.
To make the backpack stable, you need to sew a frame for the hard bottom (from thick cardboard or plastic covered with lining fabric). To do this, find a plate measuring 25*10 cm and put it in a fabric pocket sewn from 2 pieces of lining (measuring 28*15 cm). Sew up the pocket with the plate and place it on the bottom of the backpack.
The bag is ready.

Summer bag

A bag made of jeans (you can decorate it with any accessories with your own hands) as a summer accessory will look chic if you decorate it with sparkling beads and crystals. An example of a small evening bag made from unnecessary jeans.

To make it at home you will need:

light jeans;
brightly colored lining;
lightning, 2 rings;
beads and crystals on glue, seed beads;
white leather tassel for zipper decoration;
large beads for the handle;
metal spikes;
threads, scissors, ruler.

How to sew:

Cut out the pieces from denim fabric using the pattern.

Cut out the main, bottom and side pieces from the lining.
Glue all decorative elements onto the fabric, insert spikes into the side parts.
Place the lining on the main part, pin it in the center. Do the same with the other parts. Then sew the double fabric all the time.
Sew the bottom to one side of the main piece (along the narrow edge).
Sew the resulting blank in a circle to one side part. You will get a "barrel".
Sew a zipper around the other side.
Sew a handle from a long strip, folding it in half lengthwise and stitching, tucking the allowances inside. Insert rings along the edges of the handle and put beads on the handle.
Sew a handle into the bag.
Place a leather tassel on the zipper pull.
The beautiful accessory is ready.

Tote bag

Practical and multifunctional tote bags have recently become very popular due to their versatility. Such a bag can be worn with any clothes, and the bags are quite roomy. Sewing a tote bag from jeans with your own hands is not difficult and will not take much time. An example of a bag for home sewing.

Materials and tools that need to be prepared:

1 pair of light jeans, small size (children's);
eyelets and a machine for installing them;
fittings (half rings - 2 pcs., clasp for handles - 2 pcs., cord);
blue sequins;
sewing accessories;
lining fabric.

Step by step execution:

Based on the pattern, measure and cut out the necessary parts from jeans (it is advisable to cut the front part from the central part of the trousers with pockets and a zipper, the back side - from the legs, while the upper edges should be the waistband of the trousers), and then prepare the same set of parts from the lining.

Sew the lining, connecting all 3 parts of the bag with pins and sewing on a sewing machine. Turn the seams outward.
Embroider the main part (front) of the bag with sequins.
Sew together 3 pieces of the denim blank, just like the lining, and turn the seams inside out.
Place the denim part inside the lining (lower it 5 cm below the denim edge) and stitch, leaving an opening of 7-10 cm.
Turn the bag inside out and sew up the hole.
Make eyelets in the denim edge. Insert the cord.
Sew loops for the handle along the sides of the bag, inserting half rings into them.
Sew a handle from scraps of denim or make one from a leather strap of a suitable color, attaching clasps to the edges.
Connect the handle and the bag. The product is completed.

Pocket bag

These are small bags that can be sewn from the pocket of old jeans and used to wear on a belt, a cord or a long shoulder strap. Such accessories are very popular among children and young girls. Bags are sewn very quickly and easily and, if desired, can be decorated to your taste. To make them, you need to cut out 2 pockets and a strip for the handle from jeans.

Then sew the two pieces together, turn them inside out, sew on the handle and trim the edge of the bag with braid, lace or leather.

If the bag is made for a girl, it would be a good idea to sew bright buttons on it in the form of an applique or glue on iron-on stickers.

After spending only 30 minutes, you will get a small pocket bag, as in the photo.

Denim Stripe Bag

A bag made of jeans (it is very easy to sew with your own hands) looks original if you make it from stripes or belts of trousers of different shades. Example.

To sew such a bag (40*40 cm) you will need:

20 strips of denim fabric in different shades 45*6 cm;
cord, at least 1 m long (for the handle);
eyelets (4 pcs.);
cotton lining - 1 part 45*90 cm;
threads, sewing machine.

Sewing stages:

Sew one piece of fabric from each 10 strips (you should get 2 pieces of fabric, approximately 45*40 cm in size). If the craftsman wishes, you can cut out a recess on the upper parts of the part (so that the bag has angular elevations).
Punch holes for the cords and insert eyelets.
Sew the two pieces together along the sides and bottom. Turn the seams inside out.
Fold the lining in half and stitch along the side seams, turning the seams outward.
Insert the denim piece inside the lining (right sides facing each other).
Sew the top edge of the bag, leaving a 10 cm opening unsewn.
Turn the product inside out through the hole.
Now, from the front side, stitch the top edge of the bag again.
Insert the cord into the eyelets. If desired, a denim headband can be sewn onto the cord.
The bag is ready.

Rectangular bag

A bag of this shape is one of the easiest to make with your own hands from old jeans. Sewing will take no more than 1 hour. Approximate versions of finished products are shown in the pictures.

Required materials:

1 pair of jeans, skirt or jacket (vest);
cotton fabric lining;
sewing accessories;
patches or iron-on stickers.

Step-by-step description of the work:

Cut 2 identical rectangles from denim fabric.
Apply iron-on stickers or sewn-on elements to the front side.
Place the two pieces on top of each other with the wrong sides facing out, stitch along the sides and bottom.
Turn the bag inside out with the seams facing inward.
Cut two similar rectangles from the lining fabric and sew them along 3 sides, turning the seams outward.
Place the denim part inside the lining and stitch the top edge of the bag, leaving a 10 cm opening unsewn.
Turn the bag inside out through the opening.
Run the sewing machine along the top edge again.
Make handles from 2 strips of fabric 60*10 cm (fold them in half lengthwise, remove the allowances inside and sew.
Sew the handles to the bag. Done.

Sports bag for men made from old jeans

This is one of the most popular types of bags among men. Since the purpose of a sports bag is to carry clothes, shoes and personal belongings of a man, it must be large, durable and easy to wash (wipe). An example of such accessories, sewn from jeans with your own hands.

To add brutality to the accessory, rough details (a belt with a buckle, zippers), frayed edges, pockets, leather inserts, metal elements and thematic patches are sewn onto it). A successful option for the execution of the bottom of a sports bag are leather inserts (this makes it easier to care for the item and extends its service life).

To sew a sports bag at home you need to prepare:

unwanted denim clothing;
leather fabric or substitute (a piece measuring 60*25 cm);
lightning 40 - 45 cm;
male-themed patches, metal elements;
bright lace;
solid plate for a hard bottom (size 45*25cm);
sewing accessories.

Algorithm of actions:

Cut out all the bag parts according to the pattern (the lining will also be made of jeans). The bases can be made of scraps of different shades, sewn into a single piece.

Mark the place where the bottom of the bag will be on the side insert and stitch a leather patch over the denim fabric (this will protect the bag from damage to the bottom during use).
Front part of the bag: sew the base and side insert, turn the seams inside out.
The inside of the bag (lining): sew a blank from 2 bases and a side insert, turn the seams outward.
Insert the front part into the lining and sew the top edge on the machine, leaving a 15 cm opening.
Turn the bag inside out through the opening.
Sew the outside top edge again.
If desired, insert a zipper. Thread the cord through the runner.
Make handles: cut out 2 strips measuring 75*10 cm, fold them in half lengthwise and stitch, hiding the allowances inside.
Sew the handles to the attachment points (to which you must first sew fabric squares for reliability).
The bag is ready.

Bicycle bag

These bags come in a variety of forms.

Their shape and size directly depend on the place of attachment to the bicycle, namely:

on the steering wheel - small (square or semicircular), for storing a wallet, phone, small items, a small bottle of water. Fastened with buttons at 2 points. This option can be transformed from a pocket bag by adding buttons. An example in the photo.

under the frame – elongated and flat, so as not to interfere with pedaling. Their shape depends on the type of bicycle frame. They are attached at 3-4 points to maintain the position. An example of what such a bag might look like.

on the trunk - voluminous, double, triple bags with many compartments. Indispensable for long and tourist trips on bicycle transport. As a rule, this type of bag is thrown over the trunk and fixed.

mini bags, located behind the seat. They are usually found in a rigid case and are intended for small parts.

To sew a triangular bag for a bicycle frame at home (as in the photo), you need:

one leg of old jeans;
lightning;
fabric adhesive tape (bag fasteners on the frame);
bright lace;
sewing accessories.

How to sew:

Cut out all the pieces using the pattern below (the dimensions are not indicated, as they depend on the type of frame).
Sew a fastener into one main part.
Cut 3 strips of 15 cm from the adhesive tape.
Place the tapes on the main part in the places where they are attached, as shown in the diagram.
Open the zipper (to turn the product inside out later).
Place the second main piece on top, tuck the protruding parts of the ribbons inside, secure with pins and stitch along the edge of the workpiece.
Turn it inside out through the open zipper. Insert the cord into the zipper slider and tie a knot.
Decorate additionally at your discretion. The bag is ready.

You can decorate bags with a variety of materials:

beach bag - small sea shells, thematic sewn-on images;
children's backpack – cross-stitching of animal images or felt patches, buttons, iron-on stickers;
