Spider webs are not only a popular Halloween drawing theme, they can also be used to decorate a personal diary, to paint a face (with special paints) or to decorate a cake. This article describes in detail both traditional methods of drawing with colored pencils for children and combined ones - with watercolors and applique.

The web in a few easy steps

Spider web (drawing for children is done quickly and easily) is an easy object to make. Despite the fact that spiders are rather unattractive creatures, their intricate web is admirable. Its construction on paper develops geometric skills and a sense of symmetry.

The common cross spider, whose web can often be seen in the forests of the middle zone, first releases a long thread when building its complex structure. The wind lifts it up, it catches on a branch, and the spider crawls along it to secure the next thread.

In total, the web can contain more than fifty concentric circles radiating from the center.

This example shows the simplest way to draw a web. This picture can be made with pencils or markers. For convenience, new lines in the illustrations are shown in red.

In total, you will need to complete 6 steps:

Draw the horizontal and vertical axes of the web. This can be done "by hand", without a ruler.

Draw 2 more lines crosswise so that they divide the corners in half, you get a “snowflake”.

Start "weaving" the web - draw a slightly concave arc from one line to another. It is easiest to do this from the inner circle, gradually expanding the "weaving".

Draw the next arc, starting from where the first one ended.

Similarly, draw arcs between the remaining lines, closing the contour. You will get a "sticky" spiral, to which the insect - the spider's victim - sticks.

Draw several more "circles" in the same way, consisting of arcs, gradually increasing their diameter. You will get a kind of lace.

The result will be a simple drawing like this:

To make the web more realistic, you shouldn't try to draw it too well., for example, to create perfectly straight lines with equal intervals. Such drawings will look too "geometric" and correct.

Different types of spiders make different types of webs. In the tropics, the webs can be gigantic – up to 2 m in diameter, in which even a bird can get stuck. Some spiders weave not round, but shapeless webs, to which the insect does not stick, but rather stumbles over the threads.

In this master class, the web will be depicted a little differently, as if the spider had woven it in the corner. The drawing technique is almost the same as in the previous example. Spiders build various traps to obtain food.

Some stretch only "signal" threads near their lair. When an insect touches such a thread, the spider pounces on the victim from an ambush. And some weave their webs in corners, as in this case.

Step by step process of drawing a spider web:

Draw 1 horizontal and 1 vertical line, placing them at right angles to each other.

Draw several diagonals between these lines. You can limit yourself to just three.

Draw the first arc closer to the center of the web.

Continue drawing arches connected to each other.

Draw the second row of arcs.

Continue drawing subsequent rows until the corner web looks complete.

You can decorate the corner of a notebook or personal diary with such a drawing. Spiders can use their webs for other purposes as well. Some make cocoons for eggs from them, use them as a building material for winter shelters, others wrap their caught prey in them.

These images can be used to create more complex web designs. The circular web can also be arranged horizontally rather than vertically. There are some species of spiders that decorate their webs with numerous zigzags, spirals, and cross-shaped patterns.

This helps to catch prey faster. Below is an example of such a web, which can be used as a basis for a drawing.

The whole web

The web (a drawing for children can be located on the sheet entirely) in this master class will be drawn with oil-based pastel pencils. They differ from simple pencils in that they are made of soft material and can be mixed on paper, like oil paints.

Since they are shaped like a traditional pencil, they can be easily sharpened for finer details. Sharpening is best done with a utility knife or sandpaper, as their diameter is often too large for a sharpener.

A sharpening tip that is too long can cause the pencil to break quickly. To prevent a child from cutting themselves while sharpening, this procedure should be performed by an adult.

Children love pastel pencils because the drawing is very bright and coloring is effortless. The line thickness can be increased by pressing on the pencil. Since they are quite easily soiled, it is recommended to put on old clothes before starting work.

The paper should be chosen thicker and rougher. Pastel lays better on it. Cardboard is also suitable for creating such a drawing. Watercolor paints will be needed to paint the background of the picture (but you can do without them).

The step-by-step process of drawing a colorful web consists of the following steps:

Place a point approximately in the middle of the sheet. From here, further construction of the web will be carried out.

Draw a downward slanted line with an orange pencil. You can choose other colors at your discretion.

Draw several more straight lines from the center at approximately the same distance from each other. You will get a large "snowflake".

Using a yellow pastel pencil, draw an arc at the bottom between the adjacent straight lines.

From the right point of the first arc, draw the second one in blue.

Similarly, draw arcs between the remaining lines. They can be of different thickness, curvature and color.

Draw a few more rows with arcs of different colors and sizes. You will get a multi-colored web.

You can leave the web as is, or you can paint it with watercolors, as shown in the picture below.

Since oil pastel does not mix with water (as if repels it), you can safely paint over the entire drawing. The colored lines will remain intact and will not be painted over.

By mixing several layers of pastel you can get new interesting shades.

Fluorescent pastel pencils that glow in the dark are also available. Drawings in the technique discussed above – watercolor with pastel – allow you to achieve interesting effects. Pastel can also be applied over watercolor after it dries, which enhances its color.

With a funny spider

The web will look more interesting if you also include a spider in the drawing. For small children, you can draw it in a simplified way - as a circle with legs hanging from the web on a thread. Older children can be offered to make a detailed drawing of a spider with a pattern on its back.

In total, there are more than 30 thousand species of spiders in nature, which differ in color and size. As an example, you can take the cross spider, which has brown spots in the form of a cross on its back. Tropical spiders can have brighter colors - blue, red, yellow and even purple.

This tutorial describes how to draw a funny cartoon spider in a web. You will need colored pencils and a simple graphite pencil to mark the contours.

The drawing process is as follows:

Draw a large circle in the upper right part of the sheet. It is not necessary to make it a regular shape, as the spiders' bodies can be oval.

Inside, draw two oval eyes, close to each other.

Draw circles inside the eyes, which will be the pupils. You can point them in different directions, so the spider will be funnier.

Next to the pupils, make another small circle. These will be highlights.

Paint the inside of the eye black, leaving the pupil and highlight white.

Add short eyelashes along the outer edges of the eyes.

Draw a smiling mouth in the form of an arc.

At the top of the spider's head, draw a bow in the form of a small oval and two triangles.

To the left of the spider, mark the center of the web and draw "threads" through it. You will get a snowflake-shaped figure.

Draw the first row of the web with arcs in the same way as described above. For convenience, you can rotate the sheet around the axis.

Similarly, draw a few more rows of web, at a greater distance from the center. You need to fill the entire sheet.

Outline the spider's outline more brightly.

Draw a curved thin spider leg on top.

Add 3 more of these legs below.

Paint the spider's legs black.

Also draw 4 paws on the left.

Paint the web sectors orange and pink. Make the areas that are closer to the threads brighter, then the web will be “voluminous”. Paint the spider gray, and the bow blue.

You will get such a funny drawing.

Landscape with cobwebs

The web (a drawing for children can be made more realistically using the simple technique described in this master class) will be easily made by school-age children. Preschoolers will make it together with their parents.

To work you will need:

album sheet;
dry pastel crayons;
eraser;
soft graphite pencil with a hardness of 9B (or black colored pencil);
white marker pencil (white gel pen);
sticky paper tape to secure the paper to the table (you can do without it).

Step by step process of drawing a beautiful spider web with dew drops:

Secure the sheet of paper to the table with sticky tape. Draw a medium-sized circle in the upper left part of the sheet with a yellow pastel crayon. This will be the setting sun in the finished drawing.
Draw a rectangle without a bottom side at the top, along the edge of the sheet.
Make the same black at the bottom with pastel chalk. The sheet should be divided vertically into 3 approximately equal parts.
Draw 2 gray lines of equal length along the edges of the sheet on the right and left.
Fill in the spaces between the lines with brown chalk. This marks out the main areas of the drawing, which will be the basis for coloring later.
Color the lower right corner of the drawing with black chalk.

Draw a second yellow circle next to it and paint its middle with a lighter color. This will be a glare from the sun.
Make an orange rim around it.
Make a bright yellow colored area around the sun.
Color the upper corners of the sheet with orange pastel chalk.
Paint the remaining space between the corners and the sun light yellow.
Add strokes with brown chalk as shown in the picture below.
Apply a layer of gray around the sun glare.
Paint the remaining space black, add strokes of brown.

Using a piece of paper or your finger, spread the pastel around the sun in a circular motion to create smooth transitions between the colors.
Do the same with the remaining areas of the drawing.
Using white pastel, apply a few strokes around the sun and its glare.
Spread the pastel over the sheet.
To make the outline of the sun clearer, outline it with yellow chalk.
Using a simple pencil, draw several arcs from a point approximately in the middle of the sheet. This will be the lower part of the web.
Draw the upper threads in the same way.
Draw arcs between the main threads of the web in the same way as described in previous master classes.

Draw an oval near the highlight – the spider’s body and a circle – its head.
Then draw the paws - 2 pairs down and 1 pair up.
Color the body blue and the head green.
Use a white marker to draw dots on the web thread. To avoid smudging the pastel on the drawing, you can put a piece of paper under your hand.
Apply these dots along all the threads of the web. They imitate drops of dew, sparkling in the rays of the setting sun.

Scientists have not yet fully figured out how the spider web thread is formed in insects. It is produced in special glands located on the back of the spider's abdomen. Moreover, the glands are different, as are the threads of the web. A spider's web can stop an insect flying at high speed, and its strength is higher than that of steel.

No less admirable are the intricate patterns on the web, especially attractive with dew drops. If you don’t have a marker pencil or a white gel pen, you can make the drops with a thin brush and gouache.

Collage with applique elements

The web (a drawing for children is selected according to the level of complexity of execution) can be made in various techniques. This example combines drawing and applique.

This method allows you to develop several skills in your child at the same time. You will need colored pencils or markers, black paper, scissors, a ruler, and PVA glue.

To make a collage, you need to do the following:

Draw an arbitrary diagonal line on paper using a red pencil (you can use another color) along the ruler.
Make another straight line with an orange pencil. The point of their intersection should be approximately in the middle of the album sheet.
Draw several more lines through this point in different colors: yellow, blue, green, purple.

Using a blue pencil, draw arcs between the lines – the first row of the web.
Similarly, draw the next rows using pencils of a different color.
Cut several strips about 2 cm wide from black paper.
Cut these strips into 4 cm long pieces.

Fold these pieces in half lengthwise.
Cut out identical circles of two sizes from the pieces - one larger and the other smaller.
First glue a large circle (the spider’s body) onto the web thread, and then a small circle (the insect’s head) on top of it.
Glue a few more of these groups onto the web in different places.

Draw the spider's curved legs.
Do the same with the rest of the spiders. You will get this picture:

The web can be depicted in any form: with hearts or other objects. The drawing made in the first master classes can be colored with pencils in different colors. An unusual look can also be given to the picture using spirals (curls).

For older children, you can offer more complex plots, such as a spider web and a pumpkin for Halloween, or a spider web and a bat. To make a different type of drawing, you can take black paper and draw a white spider web on it with a pen or marker.
