Napkins can be of different shapes, single-layer or multi-layer. The chosen color is of great importance. You can combine several colors in one flower or make buds of different colors and combine them into a bouquet. The correct size of the napkin determines the dimensions of the flower itself.

For volumetric compositions, you need to choose the largest napkins. In the work, you can combine paper of different sizes to obtain volumetric structures. In the finished form, this gives additional airiness to the flower.

Small napkins are most often used to make flowers, because the petals themselves rarely exceed 10 cm in length. To make large flowers for interior decoration, it is better to use large napkins.

Napkins differ depending on the number of paper layers, which can be up to 4. Napkins with 1-2 layers are dense, hold their shape well, so they are used for appliques and origami. If there are more than 3 layers in a napkin, then each of them will be thin and pliable. They are chosen for making delicate and lush flowers. At the end of the work, the layers are separated, which gives the desired volume.

Some napkins have a design on the outer layer that is printed on thicker paper. These are better suited for decorating surfaces using decoupage techniques.

For making flowers, it is better to choose plain napkins with small or fine embossing on the surface. The choice of color depends on the desired result. So, to get more natural flowers, it is recommended to choose napkins of delicate natural shades or white.

First, you need to choose single-layer napkins in blue, green and yellow colors.
Green napkins are cut into strips 1 cm wide.
Blue napkins are cut into 3 cm strips, then torn into squares and rolled into balls. Do not make them too dense, otherwise it will be much more difficult to glue the ball.
On the cardboard of the chosen color, draw a stem with 3-4 bells using a simple pencil. The upper bells should be large, and the lower ones smaller.
Then, along the line of the stem, you need to apply and glue a strip of green color.
A semicircle is cut out of a green napkin, and triangles in the form of sepals are cut out along the flat side. Such blanks need to be made according to the number of buds.
The sepal blanks are coated with glue stick on one side and glued to the end of each bud, with the semicircular side facing up.

Carnation from napkins

Carnations made from napkins turn out very delicate if you choose multi-layered napkins.

To do this, you need to take 2 napkins of the same or different colors and cut each one along the lines into 4 squares.
All the squares are neatly stacked.
The center of the napkin is secured with a stapler.
On the top circle, using a compass, draw a circle with a diameter equal to the length of the square side. The circle must be cut out with regular or curly scissors.
The edge of the multi-layered circle of napkins should be painted with a marker of a darker color. This will give a delicate dark stripe along the edge of the petal.
Then you need to make cuts around the circumference, not reaching 1 cm to the center of the circle. The width of the strips should be 3 cm.

In the middle, all layers of the napkin need to be fastened with a stapler.
The napkins are cut into thin strips (1 cm) in a circle, leaving a distance of 1-2 cm to the middle.
