Slimes (or as they are also called - "lizuns") have become popular with children of different ages since their appearance. The uniqueness of the toy was manifested in many features - stickiness, easy change of shape, multi-colored and ease of use.
The product immediately began to be produced by many companies that make toys for children, but as it soon turned out, slime is quite easy to make yourself from various ingredients at home.
How to make a slime from plasticine. Master class
Slime made from plasticine is one of the simplest and highest quality products.
To make this recipe, you will need the following ingredients:
- Plasticine for modeling.
- Boric acid.
- PVA glue.
- Spatula for mixing.
- 10 ml of water.
- 5 grams of soda.
- Syringe.
Instead of boric acid, you can use contact lens solution. It also contains boric acid, and the effect will not be different. After cooking, you can add foam balls, glitter or sequins and get the "Antistress" effect. It does not take much time to prepare the slime.
To ensure everything works out correctly, you need to follow these step-by-step instructions:
- The block of plasticine must be kneaded in your hands and crushed into small pieces. Then put into a bowl or container.
- Pour glue into the plasticine, knead the contents with your hands. This will be much faster and the plasticine will absorb the glue better.
- Three drops of boric acid must be added to the resulting mixture.
- In another container, you need to mix the soda with water and use a syringe to pour it into the bowl with the plasticine.
The resulting mixture is kneaded by hand and you can start playing. Then it must be placed in a plastic container with a lid. A food container is best suited for this role. This way, the slime will not lose its qualities, and the next time you play with it, you need to add a couple of drops of water to restore its previous properties.
How to Make a Slime from PVA Glue and Sodium Tetraborate
For this recipe you need to prepare:
- Stationery glue – 110 grams.
- 15 ml of water.
- 1 teaspoon of soda.
- 1 teaspoon boric acid.
- Food coloring or paint for drawing.
As in the previous recipe, you can use slime filler.
Instructions:
- First, mix glue, water and baking soda in a bowl.
- Add a couple drops of food coloring. Mix again to achieve a uniform consistency.
- Glitter or sequins are pouring out.
- At the end, boric acid is added.
This slime will keep its properties longer than plasticine. To get a more elastic effect, it needs to be kneaded for about 20 minutes. After playing, it can be placed in any container that does not allow air to enter (a bowl with a lid, a container, a glass jar). It is advisable to store it at room temperature, with limited access to light.
How to make a slime without sodium tetraborate and without glue
To make a slime without sodium tetraborate and without glue, you can use a large number of recipes. One of these is a slime made with regular hair shampoo.
To do this you will need:
- 100 ml of hair shampoo.
- Dye if needed.
- 3 tbsp. starch.
- Vegetable oil.
Instructions:
- First, pour shampoo into the container. If it is already colored, then you don't need to use dye.
- Add starch to the container with shampoo. If the size of the future slime is not enough, then the proportions can be increased.
- The mixture is thoroughly mixed and then kneaded with your hands. To prevent the slime from sticking, your hands should first be greased with vegetable oil.
This budget version of the slime can replace the popular “Antistress” slime, and to the touch it is no different from the usual one, which is prepared using glue or boric acid.
Slime made from toothpaste and liquid soap
Another recipe could be a slime made from toothpaste and liquid soap.

For this recipe you will need:
- 25 g of toothpaste;
- 25 g liquid soap;
- 5 tsp flour.
All ingredients are mixed. After finishing the work, the toy needs to be slightly moistened with water. This version of the slime is no different from the store slime and is also one of the budget ones. Since its color will presumably be bright, you can add luminescent paint to it. Then it will not only be colorful, but also glow in the dark.
How to Make Slime from Gum
The fastest and easiest way is to make handgum from chewing gum.
To do this you will need only two ingredients:
- Hot water.
- Chewing gum (10 pieces), or more.
Instructions:
- First, you need to take the required amount of gum and place it in hot water for 10 minutes.
- After some time has passed, the gum is taken out and kneaded until it becomes completely soft.
- Once the gum has become soft like dough, you can add a drop of dye to it. You can give it an aesthetic appearance not only with color, but also with the addition of glitter.
The choice of chewing gum is not critical. It is allowed to make a slime from any flavor, brand and even shape of gum. The more color there is in them, the less effort will be needed to give a bright look. Before putting the chewing gum in water, you can chew it. This will not affect the further characteristics of the toy.
How to Make Liquid Slime from Shampoo, Salt, Flour, Sugar
To make a toy out of shampoo, you can use a simple recipe:
- 100 g of shampoo;
- salt.
Instructions:
- To make a slime, shampoo is poured into a container. Its quality and color are not important at all. If the shampoo is colored, then there is no need to add food coloring to the product. The toy will be bright anyway.
- After the shampoo has been poured, salt is added in small portions. After each addition, it is necessary to mix thoroughly with a spoon.
- As soon as the mass begins to thicken, it must be kneaded with your hands.
The slime turns out to be quite elastic and pleasant to the touch. It should be stored in the same way as regular slime - in a container closed from air. Good slimes can also be made with flour.
The recipe composition is almost the same:
- 100 g of shampoo.
- Flour.
Instructions:
- Flour is added to the shampoo container in small portions. It is necessary to ensure that no lumps are formed, otherwise the slime will not be as pleasant to the touch. The amount of flour is determined during preparation.
- After kneading, it should be put in the refrigerator for 20 minutes. And after the time has passed, knead again with your hands, preferably pre-treated with vegetable oil.
Sugar slime is no worse than any other.
Ingredients:
- Shampoo – 100 gr.
- Sugar – 2 tsp.
Instructions:
- Mix all the shampoo and sugar in a container at once;
- It is necessary to continue mixing until the mass is homogeneous, so that there are no lumps or sugar crystals.
- The resulting mixture must be placed in the refrigerator for 2 days.
- After the time has elapsed, take out the toy and knead it to the required condition.
It is worth mentioning that all recipes are not edible. When children play with slime, it is better to be present in person and make sure that the toy does not get into the mouth.
How to Make Slime from Shaving Foam
To make a slime from shaving foam you need:
- Packaging of shaving foam.
- 40-50 ml of shampoo.
- Salt.
- Food coloring.
Instructions:
- Mix shaving foam and shampoo in a bowl. You can add all ingredients at once.
- A couple of drops of food coloring are added.
- To the resulting homogeneous mass, it is necessary to add a little salt. After each portion, the mass should become more and more compact.
- The mixture must be kneaded and placed in the refrigerator for half an hour.
An interesting option would be to make three or four small slimes of different colors at once, and then simply combine them together after cooking.
This will take a little longer, but you will get a big, rainbow slime.
Another recipe is handgum made from silicate glue.
To do this you need:
- Packaging of shaving foam.
- Silicate glue.
- Thick shower gel.
- Vegetable oil.
- Sodium tetraborate.
- Dye.
Instructions:
- In a container, mix shaving foam with glue. You only need a little glue, so the proportion is calculated by eye.
- A little shower gel and a teaspoon of vegetable oil are added to the mixture.
- Dye, glitter or colored foam balls are added to the resulting composition.
- Sodium tetraborate is added last, to thicken the mixture.
The slime is kneaded for 10-20 minutes until completely soft.
This recipe will be more durable due to the abundance of components that allow it to maintain elasticity and a durable appearance.
How to Make Glass Slime
To make a glass or transparent slime you will need:
- Transparent glue.
- Sodium tetraborate.
Both ingredients are mixed in equal proportions until complete elasticity is achieved. The presence of glitter or beads will look very impressive in such a toy. The transparency of the slime gives scope for experiments with the addition of sequins, beads or even rhinestones.
How to Make Edible Slime
So that parents can breathe freely and not worry about the health of the child, you can prepare a harmless edible slime.
Ingredients used:
- 100 ml of water.
- 4 tbsp flour.
Instructions:
- The flour must be sifted into a container through a sieve. This will enrich the flour with oxygen to prevent lumps from forming.
- Warm water is added to the flour in a bowl, by eye, and a drop of food coloring.
- Mix everything thoroughly and place in the refrigerator for half an hour.
The recipe is very simple and does not require much expense. The resulting toy does not contain any allergens, and parents do not have to worry that the child will drag it into his mouth. The only drawback is the short shelf life: such a toy spoils quite quickly.
And you can dilute the taste with a fruit food additive, grated chocolate or cocoa. An interesting recipe for edible slime is slime made from chewy candies.
To prepare it you need two elements:
- Any chewy candy.
- Powdered sugar.
Manufacturing instructions:
- Remove the candies from the wrapper and place them in an iron bowl or saucepan.
- Place the bowl over a double boiler and stir the candies until they begin to melt.
- Once the sweets have acquired a viscous, liquid appearance, they need to be lowered into a container with powdered sugar.
- The future slime is sprinkled with powdered sugar and kneaded until it becomes completely elastic.
After its creation, the toy must be immediately given to the child for further play. The disadvantage of the recipe is that the slime hardens quickly. Therefore, after the game, it is advisable to eat it immediately.
Another delicious recipe is slime made from condensed milk.
For this you will need:
- A can of condensed milk.
- 1 tbsp cornstarch.
Instructions:
- Condensed milk must be poured into a saucepan and placed on the stove over high heat.
- Add starch and stir without leaving the stove until it reaches a jelly-like consistency.
- Once the mixture has cooled, you can play with the resulting handgam.
It is important to remember that this recipe leaves marks on clothes and furniture.
Therefore, you need to watch your child while playing with such a toy. After playing, it is advisable to eat the slime, as it will also quickly spoil in the future. As balls, you can add Easter sprinkles, chocolate-covered seeds, sea pebbles, nuts, dried fruits or even poppy seeds to the slime.
To the touch it will have the effect of an “Antistress” toy, and to the appearance it will be very unusual and at the same time edible.
How to Make Slime with Dish Soap
For this recipe you will need the following ingredients:
- Shampoo of any brand.
- Dishwashing liquid, preferably thick.
Instructions:
- In a container, mix shampoo and dishwashing liquid in equal proportions. They must be brought to the same consistency.
- Place the contents in the refrigerator for 24 hours.
You will get a very strong and at the same time elastic slime. It will be durable due to its complex chemical composition, and you can even store it in a simple bag.
The properties will not change with long-term storage, and if it hardens, you need to add a little water. To surprise others with the appearance of the slime, you can make it an unusual shape. For example: in the form of ice cream, a heart, a skull, or put it in an unusual jar.
How to make a slime from plasticine and gelatin
How to make slime from plasticine and gelatin:
- We take a block of plasticine for modeling.
- A pack of gelatin.
- Plastic cup.
- An iron bowl.
- Water.

After 40 minutes, the slime is ready and can be used for play. To give it an interesting appearance and a pleasant smell, you can add a couple of drops of essential oil to the slime, and instead of glitter, mother-of-pearl. Also, with the help of special additives, you can make it glow in the dark.
How to store slime correctly
Whatever material is used to make the slime, it always quickly loses its durability. To extend the life of the toy, it is necessary to store it in a place protected from excess moisture or sunlight. If mold is noticed, the slime must be thrown away, as this is a sign of unsuitability. Reanimation of the product can be harmful to health.
If the slime you made from plasticine dries out quickly, you can save it by adding a couple of drops of water.
Any slime returns to its original shape with the help of moisture, each recipe just requires a certain amount of it. There are cases when the slime swells during storage. Then you need to add a little salt and knead it again. Such manipulations will return the shape of your favorite toy.
Due to its stickiness, it quickly attracts dirt and dust. Therefore, in all recipes, it is strongly recommended to store handgam in a closed container (a small container or a glass jar), or in a closed file or bag. Such a careful storage method will keep the slime clean.
If it so happens that the slime gets dirty, then you can easily clean it from all the excess debris. If you cut off the place affected by dirt or dust with scissors, then nothing will happen to the toy. It will not lose its properties after removing the affected area.
As it turned out, making slime from plasticine or other material was quite simple. It is important to remember that it must be stored properly and given to children to play with wisely. And with the use of imagination and decorative additives, it can turn out as beautiful and unusual as its store-bought counterpart.
