How to make a rose from paper, napkin, origami from corrugated paper, foil, money, cardboard

Roses can decorate any interior, both in the office and at work. You can make them yourself from paper and other improvised means in a few minutes. Ready roses are very similar to real flowers. Elegant and beautiful designs do not fade, look bright and unusual. They can be given the desired shape and easily combined with other interior items.

What materials and tools might be needed to make a paper rose?

To make a paper rose, you will need simple and affordable materials that can be found in a stationery store and at home.

The right paper will give the petals tenderness and naturalness, depending on the desired result. The most pliable is corrugated or crepe paper, which perfectly takes the desired shape. It is soft and thin, so roses made from such paper are the most tender.

You can make bright roses from colored paper and cardboard. In this case, the flowers are durable and resistant to damage.

Regular toilet paper or napkins can be used as a base for making rose petals and leaves. This thin and multi-layered material is quite economical. You can make a rose from music paper, shiny cardboard or a combination of different materials, including foil.

To make the templates, you will need notebook sheets in a grid, which are convenient for marking. You can use tracing paper or graph paper for this purpose. Ready-made templates of petals and leaves significantly speed up the work and do not allow you to make mistakes with the sizes.

The work will also require:

• scissors (it is better to take large and small ones for cutting out small details);
• simple pencil;
• PVA glue or glue stick (PVA glue will help to connect the rose elements more firmly, but it will also soak the paper, so for thin paper it is better to use a glue stick);
• glue gun for fixing large structures;
• wire (for making the stem and fastening the structure);
• threads.

How to make a paper rose more realistic will be suggested by inspiration and ready-made flower elements that can be bought in craft stores. Plastic branches and leaves will make a paper flower indistinguishable from the original. Ready-made branches, leaves, insect figures can be used when composing a bouquet, so they can also be bought in advance.

Rose from corrugated paper

A rose made of corrugated paper turns out very delicate, because the material itself requires careful handling. Making a rose from corrugated paper should be done in several stages:

1. From a roll of corrugated paper of the selected color, you need to cut a strip 60 cm long and 20 cm wide.
2. The workpiece is folded in half lengthwise.
3. The bottom of one side is covered with glue (it is better to use a glue stick) and glued to the other side.
4. Then the glued strip of paper needs to be folded like an accordion.
5. On the first accordion canvas, draw a petal template with a narrowed base-stem with a pencil. At the bottom, the petal stem needs to be widened to the width of the accordion so that the petals are connected to each other at the bottom.
6. The petals are then cut out, leaving the joints between them intact.
7. The accordion is opened and the petals are straightened with hands, giving them a concave shape. The upper edge of each petal should be twisted outward.
8. Cut a strip 50 cm long and 1 cm wide from green corrugated paper.
9. The wire is cut to the desired length.
10. A strip of green paper is attached to the wire on one side using glue or tape, and the stem is wrapped completely.
11. On the finished stem, the edge of the petal blank is fixed on one side. It is better to do this with a glue gun or glue stick.
12. Gradually, they begin to wrap the petals around the stem, achieving the desired shape and volume of the flower.
13. It is better to secure the end of the last petal with thread or wire.
14. To close the bottom of the flower, you need to use a piece of corrugated paper 5 cm long and 2 cm wide. The strip needs to be cut on one side with teeth in the form of sharp long triangles, which will imitate the lower leaves of the flower cup.
15. The blank is also secured with glue to the finished flower, with the teeth facing up, and wrapped around the base, covering all the connections between the stem and the flower.
16. The end of the strip is glued and the flower is left to dry.

The second method of making a paper rose will tell you how to make it more realistic. It is more complicated, but the flower will ultimately accurately imitate a living rose.

1. To do this, take cardboard and draw the outline of rose petals with an elongated base on it. The petals need to be made in 3 sizes: small, medium, large. Small ones are drawn in the form of drops, and medium and large ones in the form of inverted hearts.
2. Templates are cut out.
3. From the paper of the chosen color, using templates, you need to cut out 5-7 petals of each size. To make the rose more lush, the number of medium and large petals is increased by 2-3 pieces.
4. Each petal is given a concave shape. The top of the petal is bent to the outside, creating a natural turn. The edge of the petal is slightly stretched at the top.
5. Apply a little glue to the finished plastic stem with leaves to secure it in place (it’s best to use a glue gun here).
6. The first smallest petals are simply twisted around the stem. The center of the flower is formed from 5 petals.
7. The petals are attached to the base using thread or glue.
8. Then, 5-7 medium-sized petals are attached one by one, distributing them evenly on all sides.
9. Lastly, apply the large petals and also fix them at the base.
10. The entire flower blank is tightly secured with threads. The threads need to be tied tightly in a knot and cut.
11. The rose is turned over for convenience. The sepals should be made of green corrugated paper, as in the previous method, and attached to the base of the flower with glue or adhesive tape.
12. The rose petals are straightened and bent, giving volume. The flower is ready.

Roses from colored paper

The brightest roses are made from colored paper:

1. To make them, you need to draw a template of a large flower or just a circle with a diameter of 15-20 cm on regular paper.
2. The template is cut out and transferred onto colored paper.
3. On the workpiece, you need to draw a spiral from the outside to the center. The spiral should not be frequent, with wide stripes.
4. The blank is then cut out and spirally slit to form a spring.
5. The center of the spring is attached to a piece of wire wrapped with a strip of green colored paper using adhesive tape or glue.
6. The workpiece is wrapped around the center, periodically fixing it with glue.
7. Form a bud and secure the end of the workpiece with glue.
8. Then, a circle with a diameter of 3-4 cm is cut out of green colored paper.
9. Sepals are cut out around the circumference of the circle in the form of small teeth.
10. The circle is pierced in the center and a rose stem is inserted into the center.
11. The sepals need to be glued to the base of the rose to close the connection between the stem and the bud. After that, the flower is decorated with leaves made of green colored paper.

Volumetric rose in origami technique

Unusual roses for decoration are made using origami technique. To make them, you will need double-sided colored paper. In this case, the colored paper should be thin to make it easier to work with.

1. A sheet of colored paper is folded neatly diagonally and the excess is cut off to form a square.
2. Then the sheet of paper is folded diagonally a second time and in half twice so that veins appear on the sheet in all directions.
3. The square needs to be folded in the middle.
4. Its upper sides are tucked inside the rectangle to form a triangle.
5. Then the ends of the triangle on one side need to be bent upwards, folding them diagonally.
6. Each of the triangles sticking out on both sides is folded downwards and straightened into a square.
7. The squares need to be flattened towards the bottom.
8. Each square is folded in half diagonally downwards.
9. The same is done on the other side of the workpiece.
10. The resulting figure is turned with the end facing outward.
11. The top triangle is folded over to form a line marking the rectangle.
12. The same needs to be done on the other side.
13. Holding the workpiece from above, open the lower part of the workpiece.
14. You need to find two corners of the rectangle at the bottom in the center. They are turned out to the edges.
15. The workpiece must be very carefully turned over to the other side, holding it with your fingers so that it does not unfold.
16. Then the triangle in the center is folded parallel to the base.
17. The upper right square is folded diagonally towards the center.
18. The same must be done on all other sides.
19. The prepared base is placed in one hand.
20. Holding it by the central triangle, twist it clockwise, while using the other hand to form a bud from the edges of the paper and the center.
21. The petals need to be straightened with a toothpick or a match.
22. The finished bud needs to be glued onto a blank sheet of green paper.

Roses from money

A paper rose can become a symbol of prosperity and a birthday present, because it can be made from banknotes. To make such a rose, you need to print out templates of banknotes of the desired denomination on a printer or buy ready-made "joke" banknotes.

1. The banknote is folded in half at a slight angle so that the top part of the base becomes wider than the bottom.
2. The upper right corner of the banknote is twisted forward using a pencil.
3. Then turn the workpiece over to the other side and repeat the operation.
4. One of the bills, which will become the center of the flower, needs to be folded on both sides towards the middle.
5. Each banknote is secured to the wire, passing it through the center of the fold of the petal.
6. Then assemble the flower, starting with the central petal. Place the remaining petals around it, securing them in place with wire.
7. All petals need to be straightened out.
8. The wires from the petals are twisted together to form a stem and wrapped with green adhesive tape. Ready-made branches with leaves can be attached to the rose.

Roses from napkins

How to make a paper rose is much easier and more practical to use, so use regular napkins to create it. Such a rose is most often used to decorate a festive table, but it can also be used to decorate a room and individual items.

1. First, you need to choose plain napkins of a pleasant color. It is better to choose the simplest thin napkins of a large size (20 cm by 20 cm). The larger the napkin, the larger the flower will be.
2. Then 2-3 napkins are placed on top of each other.
3. The napkins are stapled together in the center.
4. Carefully draw and cut out a circle with a diameter of 20 cm on the top of the first napkin.
5. Starting from the top, separate each layer of the napkin and fold it upward, forming a bud from the wavy edge.
6. Once the last layer of the napkin has been folded, you need to give it the shape of the bud.
7. A leaf of the required size is cut out from a green napkin.
8. Glue the bud onto the leaf using a glue stick and you're done.

How to make a rose from toilet paper

Very simple, but very original roses are made from toilet paper. For making such flowers, single-color paper with fine embossing and several layers is suitable.

1. Toilet paper is torn along the perforation line.
2. Five pieces of paper are placed on top of each other and folded in half.
3. You need to apply a petal template to the workpiece and cut it out.
4. Each petal needs to be twisted along the top edge to the outside.
5. Then the end of the toothpick is coated with glue.
6. Each petal is wound onto a toothpick, first securing it to the base with glue.
7. The end of the petal is also fixed with glue. When gluing, you need to immediately give shape to the bud.
8. The last petal is fixed with adhesive tape.
9. A strip of toilet paper 3 cm wide and the required length is cut out.
10. The strip is secured at the bottom of the bud with glue and is wrapped around the toothpick, closing it.
11. The length of the stem can be increased by using a second toothpick taped to the end of the first.
12. The end of the strip is folded over and sealed with glue at the bottom.
13. After that, using a toothpick, you need to separate each petal into layers and give the rose its final shape. The outer petals can be additionally curled at the edges or made more voluminous.

DIY Rose from Music Paper

Music paper can also be used as a base for a rose. This should be done, as in the case of colored paper, using a flower template.

1. On music paper, mark out a circle with convex petals around the entire circumference, with a diameter of 10 to 25 cm. The larger the circle, the more luxuriant the flower will be.
2. From the center to the edge, apply a curl, leaving a strip large enough to form a flower.
3. The edges of the curl should be made wavy to make the rose petals more beautiful.
4. The flower blank is cut out in the shape of a spring.
5. The center of the spring is attached to the finished stem with leaves using a hot gun.
6. The spring is twisted around the base, forming a flower bud.
7. The end of the workpiece is secured to the base with hot glue.
8. The rose petals need to be fluffed up and folded along the top edge.
9. The bottom of the bud should be covered with a piece of colored paper cut in the shape of sepals.
10. A rose made from music paper can be decorated with glitter, small insect figures or sequins.

Roses from crepe paper

Crepe paper is distinguished by its increased softness and delicacy, so it is easy to make roses from it. And small folds allow you to give the petals a natural look.

1. To prepare the blanks, you need to cut out rectangles of 4 different sizes from crepe paper.

2. The rectangles are cut in the shape of a petal. To do this, the upper edges need to be rounded off by cutting off the corner. And at the bottom, you need to cut out a base in the shape of a narrowed leg.
3. Each petal needs to be curled along the top edge.
4. The petals are given a concave shape by hand or with a teaspoon.
5. The first petal (the smallest one) is bent into a tube and the second petal is screwed to it, then everything is fixed with a thread.
6. Larger petals are attached to the base one by one. Each subsequent petal is placed on the base opposite the previous one and secured with threads.
7. The last petal is fixed with threads, the threads are tied tightly and cut.
8. The wire of the required size is attached to the base of the bud using adhesive tape.
9. Then, a strip of the required length and 2 cm wide is cut out of crepe paper.
10. The edge of the strip is secured at the bottom of the bud using PVA glue.
11. The strip is wrapped around the base of the flower and the stem to the end. The stem of the flower can be wrapped twice to give it more volume.
12. From green crepe paper, cut out a strip 3-4 cm long and 3 cm wide.
13. The edge of the strip is cut in the form of triangles.
14. Then the strip is smeared along the even edge with glue stick and applied in the form of sepals to the base of the rose bud with the cut side up.
15. All that remains is to give the finished flower its final shape, straighten and bend the petals.

Roses from cardboard

Cardboard is more difficult to work with, but you can make a rose from it too:

1. To do this, you need to take double-sided colored or white cardboard and cut out flowers with 6 separate petals from it using a template.
2. You need to make 2 or 3 blanks depending on the required splendor of the flower.
3. The first flower blank is placed on a flat surface. 1 petal is bent perpendicularly and twisted into a tube in the center.
4. The next petal and all subsequent ones are also bent and twisted around the first petal in a circle, giving it a concave shape.
5. Apply PVA glue to the 2nd piece in the center.
6. The resulting bud is pressed against the 2nd blank and wait a few minutes until the glue sets.
7. Then, all the petals are also bent in a circle perpendicular to the base and given a concave shape with a curved edge.
8. To obtain a more lush flower, you can use the 3rd blank. The stem for the bud from cardboard is made of wire.
9. You need to cut 2 pieces of wire of the required size and carefully twist them together.
10. The finished stem is wrapped with green adhesive tape or satin ribbon, securing it with a hot gun.
11. Then a hole is made at the base of the bud.
12. The finished dense stem should be threaded through the hole and secured with a glue gun. The cardboard rose can be additionally painted or decorated with glitter.

Roses from paper and foil

Foil is often used to make paper roses. This material holds its shape well without weighing down the structure. Most often, foil is used as a frame.

1. From the foil you need to cut a strip 30 cm long and 5 cm wide.
2. A rope is rolled from the strip. Corrugated, crepe paper or napkins can be used to make petals.
3. A strip 30 cm long and 10 cm wide is cut from a sheet of corrugated paper.
4. The strip in the middle is folded along its entire length, placing a tourniquet of foil into the fold.
5. The top edge of the workpiece along the fold must be additionally folded once so that the foil bundle does not move from its place.
6. Separately, roll a stem of the desired length and thickness out of foil.
7. The petal blank is secured to the stem with the fold facing outward using adhesive tape and they begin to wrap it around, achieving the shape of a bud.
8. The end of the paper is folded downwards and secured with tape.
9. Then the foil stem needs to be wrapped in green corrugated paper.
10. A rose leaf is cut out of paper using a template and glued to the stem using a glue stick.
11. The base of the flower is covered with a piece of green corrugated paper cut in the shape of sepals.
12. The petals of the finished bud need to be fluffed up and bent into waves.

Bouquet of roses made of paper

How to make a paper rose elegant and hide all the small flaws is to make a bouquet from ready-made flowers. Ready-made paper roses look more natural in the form of a bouquet. To make a bouquet, it is enough to make roses in the required quantity and connect them together. You can make a bouquet of roses of 1, 2 or several colors. Or make flowers from two shades of paper of the same color.

Bouquets can be made from 5-7 roses and placed in a vase. More luxurious bouquets of 9-21 roses can be placed in baskets, decorative buckets and floor vases, where they will look more laconic.

The bouquet should be assembled gradually. Two flowers are attached to one, then all the others one by one. Classically, the flowers in the bouquet should be arranged diagonally, giving the desired dome-shaped form. The roses in the bouquet can be laid out lengthwise or given a more natural uneven shape. When creating the bouquet, it is important to hold the roses firmly so that they do not move from their place.

As with a real bouquet, artificial flowers need to be given a more natural shape and volume by bending the stems in the right direction. Artificial leaves or branches with small flowers can be placed between the flowers.

Real branches and dried leaves are often used to decorate paper rose bouquets. Decorative elements for the bouquet can be decorated with glitter or painted in a bright color.

After the bouquet is formed, it is secured with wire or thread. This can be done in one or several places. Then the attachment point should be covered with a satin ribbon or shiny paper. If the bouquet is to stand in a vase or other stand, then it is not necessary to cover the connection point.

Roses in a bouquet made of paper are decorated with figures of butterflies, ladybugs, bees, which are attached with hot glue, as well as glitter. You can make such a bouquet from scrap materials and it will not take much time. The finished bouquet will look very beautiful in decor and in photos.
