• thickness of the yarn and knitting needles used;
• clothing size.

You need to make a control sample of the pattern, which will determine the number of loops.

The number of loops for the constituent parts of a sweater is determined as follows:

1. Taking measurements: neck, chest, waist, hips, arm, elbow, wrist; armhole width and length; length of the entire garment; length to armhole; length of shoulder, arm to elbow, sleeve.
2. The degree of fit of the finished product is determined. A medium fit model will require an increase of 6 cm to the width of the product. For a wide item, the increase can be up to 20 cm.
3. According to the measurements taken, a pattern of the product is drawn on paper, which is checked during the work process. Instead of a pattern, you can use another, already finished sweater.

Knitting a men's sweater with knitting needles will not be very difficult if you choose a simple pattern for this, for example, the front surface. The yarn for the product will require from 600 gr.

After measuring all the parameters, selecting the knitting needles and threads, it is necessary to determine the number of loops for the front and back (it will be the same for both parts) according to the finished knitting sample: the width of the product is multiplied by the number of loops in the sample and divided by the length of the control sample. The resulting number will be the number of loops for the front and back parts.

The knitting process step by step looks something like this:

1. First, you need to cast on stitches for the back.
2. Knit the first row with front loops.
3. Knit the second row with a 1x1 elastic band.
4. Knit a few cm with an elastic band.
5. After the elastic, move on to the front surface (garter stitch in the front rows, stocking stitch in the back rows).
6. Knit the fabric up to the armholes.

• sew the front to the back along the sides up to the armholes (all seams are done on the reverse side);
• perform shoulder seams;
• sew the sleeves and attach them to the armholes.

After assembly, the neck is tied. For this you will need circular knitting needles. The loops are collected from the closed edge braid on the wrong side. The collar is made with 1x1 elastic to the desired height.

Men's Raglan Sweater with Sleeves. Knitting from the Top
