Large rose made from a wide ribbon 5 cm
To make a large rose from a fairly wide strip of satin, you will need some experience in creating flowers. The main thing is to follow the description.
Roses made from satin ribbons with your own hands begin to be created from buds. A wide strip of satin is wound around the finished bud. To obtain a flower of greater volume, the petals are made larger. The finished rose is sewn at the base.
To work on the flower you will need:
- wide (5 cm) and long (1.5 m) white satin ribbon;
- green ribbon;
- sewing threads of white and green colors;
- small beads;
- a skewer, a needle and a few safety pins;
- paints, brush, glue;
- newspaper and foam rubber;
- candle and matches.
Stages of work:
- First, the edge of the white ribbon is folded at a right angle with the front side facing up and pinned. The opposite edge needs to be done in the same way in mirror image.
- Next, the long part of the strip is also folded, but in relation to the second fold, and also pinned. The fourth fold completes the square and is secured with a pin. The resulting square is placed on the foam rubber, a large needle is placed in the center.
- The following tiers of petals are made as in the first row, by folding squares. The pins are stuck through. The higher the tier, the smaller the size of the petals.
- When the long edge of the ribbon is reduced to 20 cm, it is twisted and threaded through the center into the lower part of the flower. A white thread is inserted into the needle, and all the tiers of the flower are sewn together with a single stitch, the twisted end of the ribbon is also captured. The thread remains in the needle.
- The upper pins are removed. Each tier of petals is stitched separately. The needle is pulled out from the center of the flower. Beads are put on it. The remaining part of the ribbon at the bottom is sewn on as a petal.
- A green strip of ribbon, 5x5 cm in size, is put on a skewer in the center. Fringe is cut along the edges and burned over a candle. The skewer is painted green, with glue mixed into the paint.
- A little foam rubber is sewn to the bottom of the rose. The green piece with fringe is sewn in a circle, the thread is not cut. The piece is put on a skewer and placed on the foam rubber, the thread is tightened. Several green leaves are sewn to the rose petals, hiding the foam rubber. The thread is cut.
Leaves cut from green satin and processed over a fire are glued to stems made from twisted newspaper and painted green. The flower is finished.
Rose with pointed edges from 5 cm ribbon
Roses made from satin ribbons with pointed edges, made by hand, will require:
- satin ribbons;
- scissors;
- glue;
- lighter.
Work on the rose begins with cutting squares from satin ribbon measuring 5x5 cm. To add originality, you need to use 2 tones: light and dark.
You will need 22 light squares and 17 dark squares. The squares are used to make petals according to the following pattern:
- the top corners are folded;
- the base of the petal is cut and melted;
- To sharpen the top tip, you need to clamp it with tweezers and hold it over the fire.
After the petals are made, the assembly of the rose begins:
- The first light petal in the middle is smeared with glue and rolled into a tube. Another light-colored petal is glued on top of it, and then a dark one.
- Next comes a peculiar alternation of light and dark petals. The petals are glued in a checkerboard pattern, in a circle and overlapping. The base of the flower should be flat.
Flat twisted rose from 5 cm ribbon
The following master class will tell you how to make a flat rose from a 5 cm wide satin ribbon.
For work you will need:
- half-meter long tape;
- thread and needle;
- scissors and fire.
Step by step diagram:
- First, the transverse cut edges of the tape are melted over a fire.
- The ribbon is folded in half and twisted, this is how the center of the flower is obtained. The center is stitched. A small part of the free ribbon is folded away from you, the fold is placed around the center.
- The ribbon is folded again and wrapped around the center of the flower again. Only the front side of the ribbon should be visible. This is how the bud is made.
- When it is finished, the next petals should be made pointed at the top and located between the petals of the previous circle. Therefore, the turns should be made between the petals of the previous row.
- After 2 rows have been completed, the petals should be stitched. This is necessary for good fixation of the petals. The remaining short edge of the ribbon is hidden and sewn to the back side.
Small twisted roses from 1.2 cm ribbon
To create small roses from ribbons you will need the same tools and materials that were used for the previous crafts, and only the tape for the work will be narrow - 12 mm in width.
If you need to make roses that are slightly different in size, you need to take different lengths of ribbons. The edges of the working satin strips are melted with fire and twisted with tweezers. The center of the flower is ready.
Afterwards, the ribbon is folded away from you, and the petal is placed under the base. These actions must be continued until the bud is formed. The remaining short edge of the ribbon is folded and sewn to the back of the rose.
Twisted roses from 2.5 cm ribbon
Roses from 2.5 cm wide twisted satin ribbons can be made with your own hands using one of the 3 suggested options.
For work, craftswomen will need:
- satin ribbons 2.5 cm wide;
- beading needle;
- sewing threads in the color of the ribbons;
- lighter.
The first option for creating a flower is the simplest:
- The ends of a satin ribbon no longer than 90 cm are cut at an angle of 45° and singed. Now the ribbon has the shape of a trapezoid.
- A basting stitch is made along the beveled edges and the upper, shorter edge of the tape. The thread is not cut and is tightened, gatherings are formed on the tape.
- The thread is secured with 2-3 stitches and is not cut. Now the ribbon needs to be twisted, sewing at the base of the flower.
- The glossy side of the satin should be inside the roll. Hide the end of the ribbon, finishing the flower.
The second version will feature a rose made from ribbons of two colors. The length of the ribbons should be about 70 cm. The width of the main color ribbon is 2.5 cm. The width of the additional ribbon is 1 cm less.
Step by step instructions:
- The ribbons are sewn together on the front side with an overlapping light basting stitch. The color of the thread should match the color of the ribbon.
- The sewn ribbons are wound into rings on a ruler.
- After removal, the corners of the main color tape are cut off with a rounding and singed. The tape is unrolled.
- By tightly twisting the ribbon at the edge, the center of the flower is formed and stitched at the bottom.
- Lay a basting stitch along the edge of the ribbon of the additional color, turning it at a 45° angle at the end.
- Gather the tape along the seam.
- The flower is formed by twisting around the already prepared center.
- The additional color ribbon will be placed at the bottom of the petals.
- The remaining small piece of satin is sewn to the lower petals.
The third method of making a rose will be a little more complicated. The length of the ribbon is 50 cm, the width is 2.5 cm.
Execution scheme:
- The top corner of the tape is folded over and secured.
- From this edge, the ribbon is rolled into a roll and sewn at the bottom, forming the center of the rose.
- The tape is rolled up to the secured top corner.
- The bottom edge of the tape is connected to the edge formed after folding the top corner (diagonal line).
- Along the newly formed diagonal line, you need to fold the tape again, the edges and folds should not be inside. This line is slightly stitched.
- Continue working until the triangles form a circle.
- For the rose you need to make 2 circles.
- Now the workpiece is twisted around the center.
- This is how you get a bud that is not fully opened. A fully opened rose will be obtained by stitching and tightening the basting stitch.
Rose on an elastic band
A rose made of satin ribbon will look especially impressive as a hair decoration. The rose is made separately and attached to an elastic band. It is better to take a tape that is not wide.
How to do:
- The tape is placed on a horizontal surface, the left edge is folded by 6 cm. This small piece of tape is folded at an angle of 45°, relative to the main tape it will be located perpendicularly. The fold is pinned with a safety pin.
- The long part of the ribbon is folded down, the fold is pinned. Continue the actions until a square of 4 triangles is formed.
- When the square is ready, its sides are stitched along the perimeter. The pins remain. The thread is carefully pulled together, the base of the flower becomes round and wavy. The flower is turned over and straightened. The first bud is obtained.
- A small bud is made from the next ribbon. A small piece of ribbon is folded into a half-eight. The intersections are pinned.
- Excess material is cut off and the edges are scorched with fire.
- The sides are stitched along the entire perimeter. The thread is tightened. A small bud without a hole is obtained.
- The small bud enters the large bud and closes its opening.
- For the leaves, a green satin ribbon will be used. The edge of the ribbon is folded into a cone. The ribbon is thrown over, another cone is made at the bottom.
- The unused tape is cut off, the edges are lightly processed over the fire. The bases of the cones are secured with a pin. The leaves are ready.
- The rose is sewn on top of the leaves. Then the rose is attached to a small felt lining, then secured with an elastic band.
Bouquet of roses
A bouquet of artistic roses will look very beautiful. Roses are made separately and then put together into a composition.

Step by step execution:
- The bouquet in question will be round. First, a base is made for it. Several pencils glued together will do for the handle. The base of the bouquet is fixed with glue on top of the handle - a foam or paper ball covered with tape. Roses are glued to the ball.
- The rose flower should be placed on a solid round base. It is cut out of starched gauze, burlap or felt. A circle no more than 5 cm in diameter is drawn and cut out. A triangular notch is drawn in the circle and then removed. The circle is sewn together. The result is a low cone. If you want a tall flower, the cutout is made larger.
- The satin ribbon is folded in half, placed on the top of the cone and sewn. The ribbon is folded into triangles to form a square. Make several squares. The more squares, the more lush the flower. When the cone is completely hidden under the ribbon, the flower is ready.

- The ribbon is cut into pieces 8 cm long. The pieces will be used to make petals. The more petals there are, the more lush the rose will be.
- The edges of each piece of tape are cut at an angle and singed. The tape is folded in the middle at an angle of 90°.
- The horizontal half of the tape is laid parallel. The ends of the tape are crossed.
- Small pieces of thin wire are twisted into bundles, and petals are attached to them. The flower is formed by folding the petals into a bunch.
- Leaves are made from green ribbon.
- The leaves and rose are attached to the end of a thick wire wrapped with green ribbon.
- Artificial leaves are fixed under the tape. In an open rose, the petals should not be tightly arranged.
Rose from satin ribbon without cutting
Roses from satin ribbons can be made with your own hands without cutting the ribbon in a few minutes.
For one rose you will need:
- meter-long satin ribbon;
- thread and needle;
- tweezers;
- fire.
Scheme of actions:
- The entire length of the tape is folded in half, hiding the reverse non-glossy side inside. The upper right corner is folded and clamped with tweezers.
- Having made 2 turns around the tweezers, the tape is bent away from itself. Continue working in this manner.
- After making several turns, stitch the resulting bud to fix it. Each turn of the tape should be secured. When the flower is large enough, remove the tweezers.
- The folds of the ribbon act as petals. Each new petal should be between the petals of the previous circle. The ribbon is finished, melted, and stitched.
- To make the rose flat, the bottom of the flower is cut off and melted.
Making a Rose Hair Clip
Artificial roses are often used to create homemade hairpins.
For this craft you will need:
- not wide satin ribbon;
- scissors and glue;
- thread and needle;
- ruler and some felt;
- accessories: hairpins and hairpins.
One flower will require 30 cm of tape to make.

The step-by-step production process looks like this:

- After 1 turn, the base is stitched. Before a new fold, the tape should be loosened. The right angle is always directed to the inside.
- After each turn, the completed circle is secured with stitching. The petals are folded to the end of the ribbon. The end of the ribbon is sewn at the base of the rose.
- A thin strip is cut out of felt and a pin is put on it. The edges of the felt strip are glued to the back of the flower.
Small roses can be glued to the fittings using pins.
