How to draw a whale the easy way

One main huge line runs almost along the entire sheet, starting at the bottom on the left and then rushing to the right and up, at the same time smoothly curving, passing right above the fin, ending at the top on the right. At the same time, closer to the end, it should rise upward more and more. Having ended in the upper right part of the paper sheet, this line should bifurcate. To the left and right, 1 small stroke should go. This is how the whale's tail is indicated at this stage. Two more lines need to be drawn at the front of the whale. Both of them start at the starting point of the largest arc that runs across the entire sheet. Each of these two lines is a slightly curved arc. One goes down and to the right, the other goes up and to the right. The length of each of them is approximately half the distance from the start of the large main arc line to the fin.
2	Check proportions	To do this, continue the contour lines that were started in the previous stage. You need to draw them along the main arc line to the tail. At the same time, do not press too hard on the pencil, leaving the possibility for correction with an eraser. When drawing 2 lines that will mark the boundaries of the animal's body, it is important to ensure that the whale does not turn out too thin or, conversely, too thick.
3	Draw the fins	The whale has a fin not only on the side, but also on the back. In addition, the tail, which ends the body, is also a full-fledged fin. Before you begin to carefully draw the lines of the fins, you need to take an eraser and remove everything that is unnecessary in the drawing. The side fin was almost completely drawn earlier, so it remains to correct it a little. The dorsal fin is a small, sharp projection on the back, located near the tail. The tail itself is a forked fin. Both parts should be symmetrical to each other. Each part is a figure similar to a triangle, but with smooth lines. At this stage, you need to draw the whale's eye, which is a small oval. It is located approximately between the fin and the left end of the body. In the oval eye, you need to draw a black pupil.
4	Detail the drawing	You should start with the mouth, which is huge in this animal and reaches the eye. It can be depicted with 2 long stripes, each of which will be an analogue of the whale's lips. Between these stripes there should be many small strokes indicating teeth. At this stage, it is necessary to draw several stripes on the belly. They start from the mouth and go along the body, ending behind the fin.
5	Add shadows and color the drawing	These procedures will add realism to the drawing. You should start by applying shadows. They are added with a soft, simple pencil. The whale's true color is close to black and white, so there is little need to use colored pencils or paints to color it. You can use shadows from a simple pencil to create a realistic drawing or make a dark background of the deep ocean to make the painting look more alive.

Cartoon whale

Before you begin the creative process, you need to prepare:

Remove the unnecessary detail using the eraser. The unnecessary part here is the right side of the circle that was drawn in step 1. Since the whale's body merges with its head, the outline between these parts of the body is not needed.
Having removed the outline between the head and the body, start drawing the tail. It is important to remember that it consists of 2 halves that are symmetrical to each other. Each half is something similar to a drop of water. One half should be located at the top, the other at the bottom, being a mirror image of the previous one.

Color the finished drawing using 2 colored pencils - blue and dark blue. The fountain is colored with blue, as well as the middle oval in the eye. The dark blue pencil should be used to color almost the entire body of the whale, except for the eye, teeth and belly.
Add black color for the pupil in the whale's eye.

Draw characteristic stripes on the belly.
Mark the eye.
Remove unnecessary lines using an eraser. The construction lines that were drawn at an early stage are subject to removal.
Add color to the resulting whale using any tools: felt-tip pens, colored pencils or paints. To color the mighty huge body of the whale, 2 colors will be enough: gray-blue and light gray. The first can be used to color the upper part of the body, and the second is great for coloring the belly.
Create a background for the drawing. It is recommended to use purple and blue colors of different shades. The algae can be made dark green, typical for the ocean floor, where little sunlight penetrates due to the large thickness of water. You can draw gray underwater mountains. Pink corals will be a good addition.

Whale tail

Connect the central point with the side wavy lines.
A pair of dots placed at the bottom determine the thickness of the whale tail. Both dots are located under the central one. The distance between them should be equal to several centimeters.
Connect the two points just placed with the top ones: right with right, left with left. Smooth lines are used for the connection.
Extend the resulting tail downwards, drawing 1 line in this direction from each lower point.
Draw another line approximately in the middle of the tail, along its borders. It should also be smooth.
Using any shade, color the finished sketch. It is recommended to take black, gray, blue, light blue colors.

Whale in monotopia technique

The giant whale can be depicted using the unconventional technique of "wet painting".

To work you need to prepare:

sheet of paper;
oilcloth;
sprayer;
containers with water;
watercolors or gouache paints;
several brushes - No. 2; No. 4; No. 10.

The stages of work are as follows:

Fold the sheet in half and wet the sheet of paper.
Unfold the sheet and apply blue and purple watercolor paint to the bottom half using a #10 brush. This will be the sea.
