Making paper ships is one of the most favorite and entertaining activities for adults and children to relax. Making such paper crafts is not difficult. It is enough to follow the recommendations of master classes, and a craft of any complexity will be easy to make.

How to fold a paper boat that doesn't sink in water

First of all, it should be understood that a paper ship quickly absorbs moisture and sinks when it comes into contact with water. Therefore, to avoid moisture absorption, the bottom of the finished craft must be treated with a water-repellent compound, for example, with vaseline oil or paraffin. You can also use glossy paper sheets from magazines to make the craft.

To make a simple boat, you will need a square sheet of paper of any size (the larger the sheet, the larger the boat) and a moisture-proofing substance.

How to make a paper ship - procedure:

1. Fold the paper sheet evenly diagonally and smooth it out.
2. Fold the narrow strip of the resulting triangle upwards, do this on the right side, and straighten it out.
3. Next, this same strip needs to be folded back and smoothed out.
4. Unfold the square; it should have 3 fold lines: an outer diagonal fold and 2 inner folds along the sides of the square.
5. Fold the ship along the folds: direct the diagonal central fold upwards, the side folds downwards, the strips thus become the sides of the ship. The upper corner can be folded inwards.
6. Lubricate the bottom of the ship with a waterproof compound.

Classic paper boat using origami technique

To make a paper craft ship using origami techniques, you will need:

• a rectangular sheet of thick paper;
• toothpick;
• colored paper;
• scissors;
• glue.

Instructions:

1. Fold the sheet of paper in half, with the fold parallel to the shorter side of the rectangular sheet of paper.
2. Place the resulting double rectangle with the fold facing up and mark the central line. Bend the corners of the rectangle to the central line. At the same time, there should be 2 narrow free strips left at the bottom.
3. Next, the 1st lower strip is folded upward, the workpiece is unfolded, the 2nd strip is folded in the same way.
4. Open the blank from the inside and fold it into a square, press it, and smooth it out. The initial fold should become the diagonal of the resulting square. Straighten the corners. The upper sides of the square should be fixed, the lower ones should be free.
5. Bend the top sheet of the square diagonally and align the corners, do the same on the opposite side. The craft will take the shape of an isosceles triangle.
6. Open the workpiece from the inside, combine the opposite corners, thereby forming a square.
7. Turn the ship by pulling the top corners.
8. Straighten the middle.
9. Fold a small strip of colored paper in half and cut it into the shape of a flag. Place a toothpick coated with glue on the fold and press it down. Insert the toothpick into the center of the top of the ship.

Big paper boat

To make a large paper ship with a sail, you will need a large square sheet of paper and a glue stick.

Work process:

1. Divide the sheet of paper along the central fold into 2 equal rectangles.
2. The sides are folded towards the central fold.
3. Mark the center of the resulting elongated rectangle on the long side and bend its sides to the center. This will make a square.
4. Now it is necessary to form the sides of the ship. To do this, straighten the corners and fold them in another form. It is better to start from the upper right corner: the right side of the square is raised, the upper corner is bent upward diagonally, the inside corner must be smoothed well.
5. Close the right side of the square. Smooth out the resulting triangle on top.
6. Following the given order of actions, form the lower triangle. Now the right part of the square is a trapezoid.
7. Fold the left side of the square into the same trapezoid.
8. Turn the workpiece over. Mark a diagonal line on the square.
9. Fold the workpiece along the marked diagonal.
10. Turn the craft over. Align the downward-facing corner with the parallel corner.
11. Secure both corners with glue.

Steamboat with two funnels

To make a paper model of a steamboat with 2 pipes, you only need a square sheet of paper.

How to make a double tube paper boat:

1. Fold a sheet of paper diagonally and mark the point of intersection of the diagonal lines.
2. Fold each corner of the square to the central point, smooth out the folds. This will give you a smaller square consisting of 4 isosceles triangles.
3. Next, you need to turn the square over and bend the corners to the center again on the opposite side.
4. The workpiece is turned over again, the corners of the square are again folded into triangles with the apex at the central point. The folds must be carefully smoothed out.
5. Turn the model over again. Bend 2 opposite triangles, form pipes from them, straightening the holes on top with your fingers.
6. The 2 remaining triangles need to be lifted and spread apart, the craft is folded in half, the lower part is unfolded, the tops of the side triangles should be directed upwards. This is how a paper model of a double-pipe steamship is obtained.

A boat with sails

To make a paper ship with 2 sails, you will only need a square sheet of paper. For such a model, it is better to use one-sided colored paper, then the sides of the ship will be colored, and the sails will be white.

How to make a paper sailboat - work order:

• Fold a sheet of paper in half to form a rectangle, unfold. Fold in half again in a perpendicular direction, unfold. Now the large square is divided by folds into 4 small equal squares.
• The workpiece is turned over, and diagonal folding is performed on the opposite side. The fold lines are smoothed out well.
• Make a second diagonal fold and turn the workpiece over. The colored side of the sheet will be the front side.
• Next, you need to place the paper sheet with the diamond shape and the white side facing you. Bend 2 opposite corners (upper and lower) to the central point, thus forming 2 isosceles colored triangles. On the sides there will be white diamonds, the diagonal folds of which will be horizontal and should be directed upwards.
• Now the sails are formed: the left white diamond is lifted and folded in half along the previously marked diagonal fold, forming a white triangle; the right white diamond is folded in the same way; then you need to bring the white triangles together and smooth out the lower colored triangles, which will later become the bottom of the ship.

• To make the craft original, you can reduce the height of one sail, this is done like this: the white triangle is bent down and then bent up again, but the last fold should be located a little lower, the resulting fold should be hidden between the blue triangles.
• The bottom corner of the colored triangle needs to be folded toward its base to form a flat bottom. The folded corner will serve as a support.

Ocean liner

To make an ocean liner out of paper, you will need the following materials and tools:

• a square sheet of paper;
• scissors;
• sewing threads;
• multi-colored ribbons that are used to decorate gift wrapping;
• felt-tip pens or colored pencils.

Instructions for making:

• Fold a sheet of paper in half along the diagonal lines and mark the point of intersection of the diagonals.
• Place it in a diamond shape in relation to yourself.
• Fold the top corner towards the middle so that the top of the resulting triangle coincides with the intersection point of the diagonals, smooth it out.
• The next fold line will be located in the same triangle, slightly above its base.

Along this line, the triangle is folded back.

• The top of the triangle bends onto itself.
• Next, the sheet of paper is folded along the diagonal fold.

The triangle folded before is placed on top and should look like it is inserted inside.

• The sides are formed in the lower widest part. The edge of the paper sheet, starting from the corner, is folded upwards, the lower folds should not be at a right angle relative to the diagonal fold.
• Decorate the sides of the liner with ribbons, draw portholes, anchors and the name of the ship. Cut triangles out of paper ribbons and glue them to a thread. Fasten one end of the thread to the bow of the liner, the other to the top of the ship.

Speedboat

To work on a paper model of a racing boat, you will need a sheet of paper of regular size (A4), scissors, and colored pencils.

Step-by-step procedure:

1. A rectangular sheet of paper is folded lengthwise, the fold should be located exactly in the middle of the sheet.
2. Cut the sheet of paper along the fold line.
3. At the top of one of the resulting rectangles, bend the right corner, thus forming a right triangle. One of the sides of the rectangle should exactly coincide with the side of the rectangle. Perform similar actions with the left corner of the rectangle. Mark the point of intersection of the folds.
4. Fold the side of the rectangle and smooth it out. The fold line should be located on the horizontal line of the central point.
5. Turn the workpiece over. At the top of the rectangle there will be a square, the diagonal folds of which will be directed downwards. Connect the side triangles along the horizontal fold and smooth out the resulting upper triangle.
6. Fold exactly the same triangle on the opposite edge of the rectangle.
7. Lift the top triangles and fold the sides of the rectangle into narrow strips towards the center line and smooth out.
8. Bend the corners of one of the triangles to the base, making the vertical folds as long as possible.
9. The triangle from the opposite edge is folded towards the middle of the upper part of the workpiece.
10. Next, the corners of the small triangle that is on top are folded toward the center line. A vertical narrow strip is formed at the base of the triangle.
11. The corners of the lower larger triangle are bent at right angles.
12. Color the boat with colored pencils.

Double catamaran boat

The paper model of the catamaran boat will consist of 2 hulls, for which you will need a square sheet of paper.

How to make a paper ship with two hulls:

1. Diagonal folds are made on a sheet of paper. The horizontal fold runs along the center of the sheet of paper through the intersection point of the diagonals.
2. The workpiece is turned over so that the diagonal folds are directed downwards. The side triangles of the square are folded towards each other along the central lines and hidden under the upper triangle.
3. In the resulting double triangle, the corner opposite the longest side is folded toward the base and hidden inside.

The second option for making a paper catamaran boat:

1. A square sheet of paper is folded diagonally. Then 2 more folds are made, which divide the sheet into 4 equal squares. Each side of the square is folded toward the center line.
2. Next, 2 adjacent strips, each making up ¼ of a square, are folded inward. The resulting angle is smoothed out. At the other end of the same strip, the same angle is made in a similar manner. Now the upper part is a trapezoid.
3. On the opposite side, fold the same trapezoid.
4. Make a horizontal fold dividing the trapezoids. Straighten the figure.

Ship-motor ship

To make a paper boat you will need scissors and a sheet of thick paper.

Execution:

1. Fold the sheet diagonally, thus forming an isosceles right triangle. Cut off the remaining rectangular strip.
2. Mark the diagonal folds on the resulting square.
3. Bend each corner of the square towards the intersection point of the diagonals.
4. Turn the resulting smaller square over. Bend the corners to the center point again. Turn the workpiece over again and do the same. As a result, you should get 3 layers of folding.
5. Turn the square over. On this side, the corners of the square will be diamonds, each of which is divided into 2 triangles diagonally. Open 2 opposite diamonds.
6. Straighten the figure by pulling on the remaining folded diamonds.

Origami boat

To make a paper boat you will need a square sheet of thick paper.

Work process:

1. Fold a sheet of paper horizontally in half. In each resulting rectangle, mark the central fold line.
2. Fold the upper unconnected corners of the rectangles to the dividing folds. The right triangles should be on the outer sides.
3. The bottom corners of the rectangles are folded together in one direction toward the center fold. Now you have a 2-layer figure, with a rectangle in the center, where the sides are the bases of 2 triangles.
4. Next, the upper part of the first layer of the figure is folded along the marked horizontal fold with a "towards yourself" movement. The upper part of the second layer is folded with a "away from yourself" movement. After these steps, you should get an inverted trapezoid.
5. Straighten the workpiece from the inside. Fold the corners inward, guiding them along the horizontal dividing line.
6. Spread the corners in different directions, open the boat, and level the bottom.

Boat made of colored paper

To make a ship out of colored paper, you will need a double-sided colored sheet of paper in the shape of a square with a side equal to 20 cm.

How to make a paper ship - the manufacturing process:

• Fold the sheet of paper along both diagonal lines, making sure to mark the folds carefully.
• Place the sheet of paper so that the diagonal folds are facing downwards, bend one corner of the paper square to the central point (the intersection of the diagonals).
• Fold the sheet in half along the marked diagonal. The folded corner in the previous step will be on the outside.
• Fold the resulting figure along the second, previously marked diagonal fold.
• The figure in the plane should be in the form of an isosceles triangle. Bend the upper part of the workpiece up. Unfold the pocket inside it, the upper part of which forms a triangle. Carefully smooth out the folds of the triangle, press the entire figure against the plane of the workpiece.
• Now the entire workpiece is divided into 2 parts: on the right is a square, on the left is a triangle. The upper part of the square consists of 2 triangles superimposed on each other. The sides of the surface triangle are bent at an acute angle, raised and form a small triangle, which will be located perpendicular to the plane of the workpiece.

• Then this triangle opens again, its top bends, thus forming the pipe of the future ship. The triangle, now without the top, folds again.
• The top and left sides of the square are folded towards the center line and returned to their original position.
• The upper right corner and the opposite lower left corner are folded to form triangles.
• The center of the square rises, the entire structure also rises, the square folds, and only the triangle with the top cut off (the ship's pipe) remains visible.
• The bottom of the paper sheet is folded upwards into a wide strip. The workpiece is turned over, and the same strip is folded in the opposite direction.
• The craft is carefully unfolded, the last fold is turned upwards. Fold the workpiece, smooth it out.
• Fold the back edges of the sides into rectangles and place them inside each other.

How to fold a paper boat in a box

It is easier to make a ship from squared paper than from paper without marks: on squared paper, straight horizontal and vertical lines are clearly marked.

The craft is assembled in the following order:

1. A regular notebook sheet in a box is folded in half horizontally.
2. The center of the resulting rectangle is marked. The upper corners of the rectangle are folded toward the center line.
3. The upper and lower rectangles are folded upwards, their corners are folded along the edges of the triangle.
4. The triangle is unfolded and folded into a square, the lower corners are folded along the central line in different directions and smoothed out.
5. The triangle opens up again to form a square.
6. Open the figure by pulling the top of the workpiece in different directions, straighten the ship.
