Bashkir ornament and patterns, stencils, pictures for children

Introducing children to Bashkir patterns will be interesting and fun if an adult can tell how this ornament differs from the drawings of other nations and where it came from. In addition, to conduct classes, parents or teachers need to prepare all the tools and materials, as well as select drawings, using which you can study the main elements of the Bashkir pattern.

Features of Bashkir ornament

Bashkir the ornament and patterns are composed of geometric, plant and zoomorphic elements, which constantly alternate and repeat.

The formation of this ornament took place gradually. The first images were simple, for example, a branch with a leaf or a shell. The patterns were drawn with thin sticks on unhardened clay. Seeds and dried flowers were used as decorations, pressing them into the clay.

Later, the patterns became more detailed. Elements resembling fractals appeared, consisting of many small geometric shapes. The drawings acquired a plot, and various composition options appeared.

The Bashkirs began to use patterns to decorate household items. They painted wooden and metal utensils, embroidered ornaments on bedding and towels, created colorful carpets and decorated clothes.

Symmetry in Bashkir patterns makes sense. It reflects different, contrasting phenomena that are familiar to all peoples of the world. Examples: day and night, death and birth, man and woman. To make these elements look harmonious together, the pattern is “balanced” by the central pattern.

What are the central elements of the Bashkir ornament:

  • female silhouette – a symbol of fertility;
  • tree – symbolizes life;
  • diamonds are a sign of a good harvest;
  • ram's horn (kuskar) - a symbol of herbs and healing;
  • The heart is a sign of hospitality.

Bashkir ornament and patterns reflect the history of the pre-Islamic period of the people well. Even in those days, people decorated clothes with embroidered patterns. They believed that a hand-embroidered collar, hem or sleeves of a shirt would help protect against evil spirits and the bad intentions of ill-wishers.
