To create a sleeveless jacket you will need the following tools and materials:

- step-by-step work plan;

Calculating yarn by needle number and thread thickness
To determine the amount of yarn for a product, an approximate sample is knitted using the materials and tools that will be used to create the entire model.
Its approximate size with the rapport should be 20-30 loops per 10-12 rows. The resulting sample is measured with a ruler or a measuring tape and the number of loops in 1 sq. cm is determined. The width of the sample will correspond to the number of loops in 1 cm of any of its rows. Having measured the length of the vertical edge of the sample, the number of rows in 1 cm is determined.
Next, the number of rows or loops is divided by the length of the side of the example in cm. Then the sample is unraveled and the length of the thread is measured. The resulting number is divided by the number of square cm of the example. The result will be the exact length of the thread to make 1 square cm of the product. After this, the area of the entire thing is calculated and multiplied by the result obtained in the previous step.
The sample is ironed through the fabric immediately before all measurements. If the pattern is loose or lacy, the sample is not ironed. A sample knitted with an elastic band will have to be stretched a little.
The calculation of yarn can also be done by decoding the information from the tags on the threads. One number always represents the thickness, and the other one represents the number of threads in the skein. The correct length of yarn is found by dividing the 1st number by the 2nd.
Patterns for women's vests
Before knitting a women's vest, familiarize yourself with the patterns. Their descriptions are always easy and intuitive.
Classic (shawl)
The diagram for this pattern is as follows:
- for the front surface: in front rows - front loops, in back rows - back loops;

Knitting pattern
For a pattern with measurements taken, measure:
- back width;
- model length (ML);
- neck circumference (NC);
- chest circumference (CG).
On paper, draw a rectangle with a height equal to DI and a length equal to OG. In the center of the figure, draw a vertical line. To calculate the depth of the armhole, subtract the width of the back from the half-girth of the chest, and divide the resulting figure by 2. The height of the armhole is calculated using the formula: OG/6+5. The resulting measurements are transferred to the drawing, connecting the armhole cutouts with rounded lines.
Next, build the neckline by dividing the WS by 3. In the middle of the rectangle, measure half of the result on both sides of the vertical. Raise the neckline by 2 cm and connect it to the shoulder, and its cutout to the top of the rectangle using a rounded line. When all the above manipulations are performed, you get the pattern of the back of the vest.
The patterns for the front panels are made similarly to the back shape, but without drawing the neckline, since it is calculated for these parts using a different formula: OSH/6+2. The resulting number of cm is measured down from the neckline level and roundly connected to the center of the pattern.
Knitting the back
The creation of a women's vest with knitting needles begins with knitting the back.
Step by step:
- From the collected loops, knit a pattern with a rib (2 front, 2 back) 4 cm.
- Further work is done with the front surface or the required pattern according to the pattern.
- Having reached the armhole level, they begin to perform them, decreasing the loops on both sides in every 2nd row. The remaining length is knitted straight.
Right shelf
Description of work on the right side of the vest:
- The stitches cast on are knitted with a 1/1 elastic band for 5 cm.
- Up to a height of 30.5 cm, follow the pattern according to the scheme: stocking stitch – 15 sts, repeat – 25 sts, 17 front sts.

All the finished vest parts are placed face to face and the side and shoulder seams of the garment are joined using a hook or a needle and thread. This work is done only from the back side, not from the front side.
Neck binding

- Density: 14.5 loops and 24.5 rows equal 10x10 cm.
Back execution:
- Cast on 82 stitches and knit 10 cm with a rib pattern. In the last row, decrease 2 stitches.
- Next, openwork motifs are knitted.
- After 144 rows (59 cm) from the elastic band for the shoulder bevels, close 7 loops on both sides and in every 2nd row 4x6 loops.
- On the 146th row from the elastic band, the middle 8 loops for the neck are closed. The resulting 2 parts are finished separately.

The vest is knitted with a garter stitch and a 2/2 rib pattern:
- Making the back. On knitting needles No. 4, knit 12.5 cm with a 2/2 elastic band from 88 loops. Then they are evenly reduced to 80. Having reached a length of 30 cm, make holes for the belt: from one ball, knit 21 front and 3 back loops, from the 2nd - 3 back and 26 front, from the 3rd - 3 back, 21 front. After 5 cm of such knitting, the loops are again gathered together.
Having reached a length of 45 cm from the elastic, 1×8 loops are closed on both sides for the armholes and in every 2nd row one loop is decreased 4 times. When the armholes reach a length of 25 cm, in every 2nd row for the shoulder bevels 3 times 3 loops are closed. The loops remaining after this are closed.
- The front shelf is knitted like the back, right up to the armholes. For them, 8 loops are closed on both sides at a length of 45 cm from the elastic band and one loop is decreased in every second row 4 times. At the same time, for the fastener, the product is divided in half at the top and each part is knitted separately.
The outer 2 loops from the neckline are knitted with a garter stitch, and the rest - with a stocking stitch. When the armholes reach a length of 19 cm, for the neck opening on the inside, set aside 9 loops and decrease 1 loop 7 times in each row and 1 loop 3 times in every 2nd row. The shoulder bevels are made in the same way as on the previous piece.
- The vest is assembled by joining its finished components with side and shoulder seams.
- The neck is processed as follows: along the neckline, 9 set aside loops are cast on with knitting needles No. 4, 19 loops are cast on from the front, 36 loops are cast on from the back along the neckline, 19 loops are cast on from the front and again 9 set aside. As a result, 92 loops should be obtained. From these, a collar is knitted with a 2/2 rib pattern. Having reached a height of 10 cm, switch to knitting needles No. 5 and knit another 13 cm. Then the loops are closed.
- Next, the armholes are processed and a zipper is sewn in.
- Knit a belt and insert it into the slits of the vest. Description of the creation of the element: cast on 16 loops on knitting needles No. 4 and knit with a 1/1 elastic band to a length of 146 cm.

Back detail:
- From 68 loops, knit 18 rows with a 2 by 2 elastic pattern using knitting needles number 4.5, evenly adding 9 sts in the final rows.
- Moving on to number 5.5, knit with a sand pattern.
- After 116 rows from the bottom for shoulder bevels, close 4 sts in each 2nd row from 2 ends, and then 4×5 sts.
- With the third decrease for the neck opening, close the central 25 loops and finish the 2 resulting parts separately.
- In the next 2nd row, for rounding, close 2 sts from the inside.
Front execution:
- From 68 sts on number 4.5, knit 18 rows with a 2 by 2 elastic pattern. At the same time, at the end of the rows, evenly add 20 sts.
- Next, knit with number 5.5: front, 30 sts of sand pattern, 2 sts of purl stitch, 24 sts of braid, 2 sts of purl stitch, 30 sts of sand pattern. After 114 rows from the bottom, close 28 sts in the center for the neck opening and finish the resulting components separately.
- From the inner side, close to obtain roundness in each 2 rows, first 3 sts, then 2, and then 1 st.
- On both sides, make shoulder bevels, like on the back.
Making the strips for the armholes and collar:
- Using knitting needles number 4.5, knit 8 rows of 2x2 rib pattern for armholes from 98 stitches and set aside.
- For the collar, 50 rows are made with a 2 by 2 elastic band from 110 sts and set aside. For this, use knitting needles number 5.5.
For assembly:
- Connect the back and front at the sides and shoulders.
- The collar is sewn to the neckline, and the armhole strips are sewn to the shoulders.
- The last 13 cm of the collar seam, called Loop to Loop, is done on the front side of the garment.
- The armhole strips are attached to the sleeves, 30 cm from the shoulders.
