Women's vests knitted with knitting needles. Patterns with descriptions, sizes, instructions

Practical and stylish knitted women's sleeveless jackets are cozy and suitable for wearing both at home and at work. The article below presents patterns for modern and simple models made with knitting needles.

What you need to knit a vest with knitting needles

To create a sleeveless jacket you will need the following tools and materials:

  • hypoallergenic wool yarn;
  • knitting needles;
  • step-by-step work plan;
  • threads with a needle;
  • decor;
  • a fastening in the form of a zipper or button.

Calculating yarn by needle number and thread thickness

To determine the amount of yarn for a product, an approximate sample is knitted using the materials and tools that will be used to create the entire model.

Its approximate size with the rapport should be 20-30 loops per 10-12 rows. The resulting sample is measured with a ruler or a measuring tape and the number of loops in 1 sq. cm is determined. The width of the sample will correspond to the number of loops in 1 cm of any of its rows. Having measured the length of the vertical edge of the sample, the number of rows in 1 cm is determined.

Next, the number of rows or loops is divided by the length of the side of the example in cm. Then the sample is unraveled and the length of the thread is measured. The resulting number is divided by the number of square cm of the example. The result will be the exact length of the thread to make 1 square cm of the product. After this, the area of the entire thing is calculated and multiplied by the result obtained in the previous step.

The sample is ironed through the fabric immediately before all measurements. If the pattern is loose or lacy, the sample is not ironed. A sample knitted with an elastic band will have to be stretched a little.

The calculation of yarn can also be done by decoding the information from the tags on the threads. One number always represents the thickness, and the other one represents the number of threads in the skein. The correct length of yarn is found by dividing the 1st number by the 2nd.

Patterns for women's vests

Before knitting a women's vest, familiarize yourself with the patterns. Their descriptions are always easy and intuitive.

Classic (shawl)

The diagram for this pattern is as follows:

  • for the front surface: in front rows - front loops, in back rows - back loops;
  • for purl stitch: in front rows - purl stitches; in back rows - front stitches;

Garter stitch
  • elastic: alternating front and back loops;
  • knitting density: 14 loops and 16 rows equal the size of 10 by 10 cm.

Braids

Braids are usually combined with the main pattern and garter stitch.

It should look something like this:

  • Garter stitch: in the front and back rows, all loops are knitted.
  • Stockinette stitch: knit stitches in front rows and purl stitches in back rows.

  • Basic pattern: from the 1st to the 5th row knit with the front surface; the 6th row – with front loops; the 7th and 8th rows – with the front surface. Then the pattern is repeated.
  • Braids: 12 loops + 6 additional in the 1st row. Perform according to the pattern from the 1st to the 10th row. Repeat from the 3rd to the 10th.
  • Knitting density. Basic pattern on needles № 5: 16 loops and 22 rows equal 10x10 cm; braids: 18 loops are identical to 8 cm.

A women's knitted vest has many variations that any craftswoman can make. In the fall, such a wardrobe item will additionally warm you up, and in the spring, it will help you quickly switch to lighter clothes.

The loops should be multiples of 8+5+2 edge loops. Repeat from the 1st to the 12th row. Density: 25 loops and 28 rows equal 10×10 cm.

Step-by-step instructions for beginners on knitting a women's vest

A knitted women's vest refreshes the look. Sleeveless jackets are a lifesaver in cool and windy weather. Various models can be combined with other items and decorated, for example, with fur or lace.

Knitting pattern

For a pattern with measurements taken, measure:

  • back width;
  • model length (ML);
  • neck circumference (NC);
  • chest circumference (CG).

On paper, draw a rectangle with a height equal to DI and a length equal to OG. In the center of the figure, draw a vertical line. To calculate the depth of the armhole, subtract the width of the back from the half-girth of the chest, and divide the resulting figure by 2. The height of the armhole is calculated using the formula: OG/6+5. The resulting measurements are transferred to the drawing, connecting the armhole cutouts with rounded lines.

Next, build the neckline by dividing the WS by 3. In the middle of the rectangle, measure half of the result on both sides of the vertical. Raise the neckline by 2 cm and connect it to the shoulder, and its cutout to the top of the rectangle using a rounded line. When all the above manipulations are performed, you get the pattern of the back of the vest.

The patterns for the front panels are made similarly to the back shape, but without drawing the neckline, since it is calculated for these parts using a different formula: OSH/6+2. The resulting number of cm is measured down from the neckline level and roundly connected to the center of the pattern.

Knitting the back

The creation of a women's vest with knitting needles begins with knitting the back.

Step by step:

  1. From the collected loops, knit a pattern with a rib (2 front, 2 back) 4 cm.
  2. Further work is done with the front surface or the required pattern according to the pattern.
  3. Having reached the armhole level, they begin to perform them, decreasing the loops on both sides in every 2nd row. The remaining length is knitted straight.

Right shelf

Description of work on the right side of the vest:

  1. The stitches cast on are knitted with a 1/1 elastic band for 5 cm.
  2. Up to a height of 30.5 cm, follow the pattern according to the scheme: stocking stitch – 15 sts, repeat – 25 sts, 17 front sts.
  3. Having reached the required height, close 6 sts for the armhole on the left, then 8 times 1 st in every 2nd row and 1 time 1 st in every 4th row. Continue working according to the pattern as before.
  4. Having reached a height of 53 cm from the bottom, for the shoulder, close 8 sts in each 2nd row 3 times.

Left shelf

The left shelf is knitted in mirror image to the right one.

The diagram is above.

Assembly

All the finished vest parts are placed face to face and the side and shoulder seams of the garment are joined using a hook or a needle and thread. This work is done only from the back side, not from the front side.

Neck binding

After assembling the vest, the neck and armhole are crocheted or knitted.

Beginners can do this using the 1/1 rib pattern:

  1. From the top of the neck, from the row located immediately below the edge, loops are pulled along the entire piece.
  2. From these loops and threads from the skein, knit a 2-3 cm elastic band. Then the loops are closed, and the thread is hidden from the back side.
  3. The armholes are knitted in the same way as the neckline.

How to tie and attach a hood

The protective and decorative element of a women's vest, the hood, is knitted as follows.

Step by step:

  1. First, determine the number of loops needed to complete the piece. This is done by counting the loops from the neck of the front panels and the back.
  2. Then the loops are cast on to the knitting needles, not forgetting the extra ones for the bar, and a rectangle is knitted with the required pattern.
  3. To measure the length of a rectangle, calculate the distance from the cervical vertebrae at shoulder level to the crown of the head. Add another 5 cm to the result.
  4. Having knitted to a certain length, the loops are closed and the edges are sewn.
  5. The finished hood is sewn or knitted to the vest.

Knitting a vest with an openwork pattern step by step

Women's vest, knitted with knitting needles, is universal. Such a comfortable thing looks great with any trousers and skirts.

To knit an openwork vest up to size 42, take:

  • 0.5 kg olive-colored cotton yarn;
  • circular knitting needles No. 5;
  • standard knitting needles No. 5.

Knitting patterns:

  • Purl stitch (front loops in back rows and back loops in front rows).
  • Front stitch (front loops in front rows and back loops in back rows).
  • In elastic, the loops must be multiples of 4 + 2 edge loops.
  • Front rows: edge, *front, 2 purl, front*. Repeat from * edge.
  • Purl rows are knitted according to the pattern.
  • Openwork motifs: loops must be multiples of 26 + 2 edge loops. Knitting is done according to the pattern, where only the front rows are visible. On the back side, all yarns and loops are made purl. Between the edges, the rapport is repeated from the 1st to the 40th rows.
  • Density: 14.5 loops and 24.5 rows equal 10x10 cm.

Back execution:

  1. Cast on 82 stitches and knit 10 cm with a rib pattern. In the last row, decrease 2 stitches.
  2. Next, openwork motifs are knitted.
  3. After 144 rows (59 cm) from the elastic band for the shoulder bevels, close 7 loops on both sides and in every 2nd row 4x6 loops.
  4. On the 146th row from the elastic band, the middle 8 loops for the neck are closed. The resulting 2 parts are finished separately.
  5. On the inside, in every 2nd row, close 1×3 and 1×2 loops to get a rounding.
  6. The work is finished after 152 rows from the elastic band.

A women's knitted vest is a thing that is loved by young and mature women.

The former prefer simple and creative models, while the latter prefer voluminous items with openwork patterns. Easy-to-wear sleeveless jackets are suitable for everyday and business looks.

Execution of the left shelf:

  1. Cast on 42 stitches and knit a rib pattern to a height of 10 cm. In the last purl row, decrease 3 stitches.
  2. Up to a length of 43.5 cm, knit an openwork pattern: 1 edge, loops before the repeat, 1 rapport, loops after it, 1 edge.
  3. After 106 rows from the elastic band for the beveled neckline, close 1 loop on the left and in every 6th row 7×1 loops.
  4. On the right, make a shoulder bevel similar to the one on the first piece of the jacket.
  5. The work is completed at the height of the back.

The right shelf is knitted symmetrically to the left one. The finished parts of the openwork vest are sewn together, gathering them into a single model. The edges and neck of the product are knitted with the front and back surface, thus forming a neat strip.

Long vest

When knitting long vests, keep in mind that:

  • pockets should be decorative;
  • braid patterns require more yarn and time;
  • simple models look more interesting than complex ones;
  • The thicker the knitting needles and yarn, the less thread and time it takes to create items.

For a long and practical vest you will need:

  • Zip fastening for collar;
  • knitting needles No. 4 and No. 5;
  • wool yarn.

The vest is knitted with a garter stitch and a 2/2 rib pattern:

  • Making the back. On knitting needles No. 4, knit 12.5 cm with a 2/2 elastic band from 88 loops. Then they are evenly reduced to 80. Having reached a length of 30 cm, make holes for the belt: from one ball, knit 21 front and 3 back loops, from the 2nd - 3 back and 26 front, from the 3rd - 3 back, 21 front. After 5 cm of such knitting, the loops are again gathered together.

Having reached a length of 45 cm from the elastic, 1×8 loops are closed on both sides for the armholes and in every 2nd row one loop is decreased 4 times. When the armholes reach a length of 25 cm, in every 2nd row for the shoulder bevels 3 times 3 loops are closed. The loops remaining after this are closed.

  • The front shelf is knitted like the back, right up to the armholes. For them, 8 loops are closed on both sides at a length of 45 cm from the elastic band and one loop is decreased in every second row 4 times. At the same time, for the fastener, the product is divided in half at the top and each part is knitted separately.

The outer 2 loops from the neckline are knitted with a garter stitch, and the rest - with a stocking stitch. When the armholes reach a length of 19 cm, for the neck opening on the inside, set aside 9 loops and decrease 1 loop 7 times in each row and 1 loop 3 times in every 2nd row. The shoulder bevels are made in the same way as on the previous piece.

  • The vest is assembled by joining its finished components with side and shoulder seams.

  • The neck is processed as follows: along the neckline, 9 set aside loops are cast on with knitting needles No. 4, 19 loops are cast on from the front, 36 loops are cast on from the back along the neckline, 19 loops are cast on from the front and again 9 set aside. As a result, 92 loops should be obtained. From these, a collar is knitted with a 2/2 rib pattern. Having reached a height of 10 cm, switch to knitting needles No. 5 and knit another 13 cm. Then the loops are closed.
  • Next, the armholes are processed and a zipper is sewn in.
  • Knit a belt and insert it into the slits of the vest. Description of the creation of the element: cast on 16 loops on knitting needles No. 4 and knit with a 1/1 elastic band to a length of 146 cm.
